|

I've got a Pioneer DVL-909 Laserdisc player here with a bad power supply.
Basically what happens is when plugging the power supply in sometimes the output voltages are present(-14,14,5,-27 etc).
The symptoms on the player are no standby light, and the unit wont do anything. Sometimes the stand by light will come on and when i press the power button one of the laser assembles will go through its calibration and then nothing else.
I have the schematics for the board. I've done some troubleshooting to the best of my abilities. All fuses are good, diodes and resistors are ok. I ordered a new set of electrolyte caps for it, i haven't put them in yet. I reflowed several solder joints on the board. I also have been able to get the -14,+14v, and 5v up but for some reason -27v is dead. I don't like to give up on these sort of things, is there anyone who knows these power supply's? Is there anyone who is able to repair SMPS board?
-Brad

Hi, here is the schematics for the DVL-919 which has schematics for the same PS in the 91 and 909 http://bgsmedia.com/dvl919.pdf
The power supply part is VWR1286 on pages 36-37
I honestly don't know how to troubleshoot electronics. I can do some things but when it comes to figuring out what voltages should be where, and how to properly read voltages is another thing. As far as the problems with the whole power supply not starting properly. I get only a few volts or tenths of a volt when i measure voltages across C211 and C611. When the supply is working i get 15v ish on those two caps. The HV input section of the PS seems ok to the best of my knowledge. I measure 160VDC at D101(bridge rectifier), and across C111.
Previously when the supply was operating(sometimes it does sometimes not) the -27 did work, but i may have done something to it while measuring, or reflowing solder connections.
One time i was able to get the power supply to full work and power the LD player. I had it out of the player measureing voltages while it was connected to AC, that time i had all of the voltages so i unplugged the ac and quickly connected the ps to the LD player while still out of the player. When i plugged in the ps, the tray on the player started to close, the laser rotation device started turning, and one of the laser's that was in play position on the bottom moved towards the spindle. I had to unplug the player rather quickly as i had the front control panel PCB laying on the tray, and it would have eaten it.
Thanks if you are able to help
