Hey, New guy here. I'm trying to determine if my D-50 has a line doubler card installed already,but am having no luck. Anyone have a service manual or wiring diagram that may show where this card would be mounted and where it connects to the projector. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

If it's not installed it's not an option in the menu's. If you remove the cover of the d50 standing behind it, it's the boards mounted at the left at the side of the d50.

So if it was not installed at the factory there is no possibility of upgrading this projector withthe line doubler?

You can install one yourself, in fact Curt may still be selling the one that I traded him.

I saw the one Curt is selling on e-bay, that is what got me thinking about it in the first place. I am still not certain if I have one already, and if not where would the connections be made. I have no wiring diagram to go by.

I'm not sure where it would be in the D50, hopefully someone will post a picture. However if it doesn't show up in the menu you either don't have one installed or the installed one is dead/disconnected.

The Sony DI is *ancient*. Look into a used iScan Ultra instead (less ancient).

Is there a specific location in the menu, or will it be listed as a line doubler?

I have not heard of this unit. I take it this is compatible with the Sony D-50. Is instalation difficult?

If the Sony DI is installed and functioning, there will be a separate top menu option labeled "IDTV".
The iScan Ultra is a stand-alone DI based on the very capable Sil504. For deinterlacing 480i sources (doubling) it will be roughly equivilent to a VP30 without the ABT102 card.

The last thing I would put into a D50 IS THAT DOUBLER! And if you do have one get rid of it .
What are your sources VHS tapes ?
1080i is the sweet spot for that projector .
You can easily get all native (relatively native  ) 1080i signals into that projector all you need is a HD FURY .
If you need to line double your sources you need to have a yard sale .

My sources are mostly dvd. I may switch to hd cable once I can get this thing fine tuned a little better. I am totaly new to this and have not had the time to do alot of tweeking.

Am I wrong or did I see an ad for a Moome card that was/is made as a replacement for the A input card on the Sony? Would this work as well? And would I need to get an hdmi cable to the projector (this would not be easy).

I saw the ad on this forum in the market place section. The way read it this would work on all Sony's, but I could be wrong. I have a finished ceiling and wasn't smart enough to run an hdmi cable at the time (doh!). It wouldn't be impossible, but certainly not easy.

You would be surprised how much you can do with a fish tape. The ad on Videogon I linked has a sony dvi card that will work on yours.

Some D50's have hardwired RGB inputs in place of a standard IFB slot, so no, not all D50's will be compatible with the Moome card.

There appears to be a smaller connection location on the back that looks like it is removable with just 2 screws. Are there pros and cons to both the Moome card and the HD-FURY?

Hi John S as you quoted your pj has an A input board not an IFB input board, I think the d50q type pj has an ifb40 which can be replaced with a moome card, the d50 htu version does not which i presume is your model, the only way to fit the moome is through a pc1271 switcher.
