I got a letter from Dish networks saying the HD programming won't work anymore with my Dish 6000 receiver. Why I don't know
I bought this receiver to use the RGB with my Sony 1272 switcher & projector
Dish wants me to exchange receivers so I can get their new HD programming. But their new receiver doesn't have RGB jacks on the back.
What do you suggest I do? And what new equipment would I need to hook up the new receiver?
I'm thinking of just dropping the HD, I paid a lot of money for the 6000 receiver, Makes me mad

Why is because they are switching to an 8PSK MPEG4 signal which the 6000 does not support. This is so that they can offer much more HD programming.
The no RGB kind of sucks, but unfortunately that is the way the entire HD world has moved in the last 5 years or so.
There are a variety of methods (available right here on this web site through the Marketplace) to allow your 1271 to input HD. The best choice will often depend on what other HD sources you plan to use.

Get Dish to tell you what receiver they want to send you. Then you can research the outputs. Likely it's HDMI. There's a couple of solutions available here - Moome & HDFury. There's other less readily available solutions also.

It's going to be a 211, unless he upgrades to a DVR unit. In either case the unit will have HDMI and YPrPb outputs.

I'm not very knowledgable in this field, can you give me a idea what I would have to buy?
I'm sure Dish would give me a bare bones model.

I agree it will probably be a 211 if your just getting a basic receiver. You have 2 choices for HD connection. HDMI or component. Do you plan on connecting it to your switcher?

One option would be to use the component output of the sat box. You would use component cables which may come with the receiver, then you would need RCA to BNC adapters to connect them to the switcher ifb-12 card. You would then have to configure the ifb-12 card to except component input. See here: http://www.curtpalme.com/Sony125x.shtm . Then go into the sat box menu and set it for 480p, 720p or 1080i . Those are the output options for the 211. If everything works properly it will only cost for the cable and adapters unless you already have them.
Others options would be the Fury and whatever cables required to connect to sat box HDMI and switcher.
Or one of various Moome devices, one of which is made for a Sony projector or switcher, if they are available.
Either are more costly, however may produce a better pic then component. But that is only an assumption.
