What is the native resolution of the new Blu-Ray disks? Is the info encoded on the disk 1080p/24 and then scaled or interlaced by the player to supply the selected output of 720p or 1080i.
The reason for the question is that I would like to eliminate any scaling inside my PS3 and do the scaling with an outboard processor. Therefore I need to just read the disk and send the native encoded signal to scaler.
If the answer to my question is that the native resolution depends on the disk then----Is there any Blu-Ray player that will output Native in the same fashion as some HD set top boxes will do?

Thanks
Steve

Most disc's are 1080p24 a few have 1080i from what I have heard, but i do not have any. So just set up and Fool your DVI to accept the 1080p24 from your PS3 and then have the DVI either scale to 800p72 or you could try 1080i@72 if 72 is too high for your NEC try 48. Not sure if the DVI has timing setting menu like the HDP/HDQ but you can reduce the bandwidth the PJ needs by altering them a bit. try lowering some of the numbers there this will put less bandwidth strain on your PJ.

I am curious to know which titles are interlaced. I was under the impression 1080p24 was the only resolution on the disk.
