BABY BACK RIBS There's really only one way to eat them
About 5-6 times a year I make up a big batch of ribs. I've tried many brands of BBQ sauce, and even tried a few of my own blends. Today I tried a new one to me "Sweet Baby Ray's". That stuff is friggin awsome.
I thought it might be fun to share some summer cooking experiances as there seems to be quite a few back yard chef's here

I love ribs. I'm always looking for new sauce to try. I'll have to give that one a try if I can find it. Thanks.

I bought two. I assume the first is the original and simply labled "Barbecue Sauce" which I used and a second labled "Hickory and Brown Sugar" which I have not tried yet.

I've been using Sweet Baby Rays for years. When a new brand comes along I usually give it a try but end up right back at Sweet Baby Rays. I generally use the Original Sauce for ribs and the honey sauce for short ribs. As far as making my own...phhht. I made so 'OK' batches but for all the time and money it isn't worth it.
The original has a nice little spice bite to it that doesn't kick in until you get halfway through a rack.
I skipped breakfast today....man I could do some damage to a couple racks right about now.

We found some at the local store and bought a couple bottles. It will be later this week before we try it.

Damn dude! Half a mile away and I wasn't even invited... Don't sweat it, I was tanked on heatstroke and Bass Ale, asleep on my neighbors pool deck.
See if I invite you to Chicago for Private, Invitation-Only Mini-Ribfest! (Friends of mine put on a party for 100 or more close, personal friends, and actually import pork ribs TO Chicago for the purpose. 8) 8) 8) )

Sweet Baby Rays is good sauce. Personally, I like Famous Daves Devil's Spit. That will have you sweating in a matter of minutes. I need to get my Smoker going this year. Last time I smoked was Christmas. We did a 7lbs boston butt for pulled pork. Good stuff.
All manners are off when you are eating ribs or any type of real BBQ.

It was like 10:00 AM when I developed a huge case of the munchies. They went from frozen to all gone in a couple of hours. Chris ate half of them then took on a guilt attitude You know how women are about their weight

Our local grocery store has 5 flavors of Sweet Baby Ray's on sale this week for $1.
If you can't find it locally and you're coming to Cliff's or William's meets this summer, let me know and I'll bring some bottles.
I'll have to ask Wallace if he approves of Sweet Baby Ray's on his bbq.

Hhhmmm. Haven't tried it, but I do see that a lot of folks approve of it.
Normally, I smoke my ribs for about 6 hours "low and slow" with a dry rub. That's usually good enough. But, I could (and will) try smoking with no rub, and then brushing on some Sweet Baby Rays towards the end.
We like our BBQ, but, just like everything else in life, there's space for improvement.

Ok, you need to get over this way for a Saturday or Sunday afternoon BBQ. Maybe you could pick-up Mike P. and Mark H. on the way.
We'll get William and Clarence and have a regular BBQ & HT mini meet. I do cook some mean ribs, but, our fajitas (beef) will make your socks go up 'n down.

Glad I'm not the only one! I make mine from scratch, using a bit of the previous batch as "starter." (Which means there are probably molecules of 30-year-old sauce in there. )
I generally do boneless country-style pork ribs -- I want meat, not bone. I only have a grill, so I can't slow-smoke mine. I sear 'em, then turn down the grill and cook for about 30-40 mins, turning and slathering with sauce frequently. I end up with a lot of sauce stuck to the grill, but the meat comes out heavenly. It's rare that somebody doesn't rave they're the best ribs they've EVER had, bar none. Some day we should all get together and see who rulez.
