I had ordered the upcoming moome external 1.3 box but found that it has been delayed till end of june.
Should I wait for that box or should I just buy the internal marquee card (which is presently in stock)
In terms of picture quality, would the upcoming box be better?
Thanks.

No Internal is always better from what others have reported. Get The internal much easier to use.

Are there any functional differences between the two? Picture quality? Color reproduction?

Well the internal is only one input for hdmi where the box has more. picture wise most say the internal is better I only have the internal so I personaly cant tell you, just from what others have said here and on AVS. if you want more inputs and are not using a scaler for switching or a reciever wait for the external. But like I said the internal should have a slight improvement for picture quality.

I'm in the same boat as audvid. I have a VisionHDP arriving on Monday to feed my Marquee 9000LC. I also pre-ordered the external HDMI->RGB Moome box but am considering ordering one of the VIM-HD cards instead.

IT would be nice to hear from moome on this but I this new external box should have lot of improvements over the previous external boxes. The main differences is newer improved components and design for the 1.3 SPECS . I would think the externals performance difference to the internal would be very close now .

I'd cancel the order since your getting the lumagen and switch it to the HD-VIM.

How does moome internal card compare with hd fury. I understand Moome products are great but do they have occasional glitches because they are hand assembled and small run etc..? I just don't want to have to mess around with fixes or upgrades after getting the product. I am not a tweaker. I just want to go with a proven product. Currently I am using a Dtronics dvi to vga box. I am concerned that it might not be a true 1080p capable unit but I don't know. I tried HD fury once before but not with 1080p - only with 1080i and it was not any better or worse than my current Dtronics. Hence, I sold it. It was a while ago. I read elsewhere that that HD fury is a very good product too.
Has anyone compared moome internal card with a HDfury? I might go with a lumagen processor and I don't need the gamma correction offered by moome.
suggestions please?
Thank you.

Athanasios,

You're confusing the old EXT-HD external box with the new EXT-FULLHD external box that the original poster is asking about. The new EXT-FULLHD only has 1 HDMI input (but it's HDMI 1.3) while the old EXT-HD had a couple of HDMI 1.2 inputs and a component input.

The VIM-HD has one HDMI 1.2 input and one component input.

The items new to the EXT-FULLHD are listed in bold on the EXT-FULLHD order page and in the EXT-FULLHD FAQ:

Quote:
EXT-FULLHD Specifications

  • INPUT: HDMI 1.3 (100% digital)
  • OUTPUT: RGBHV (VGA)
  • Deep Color mode support (10bit and 12bit)
  • HDMI 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, HDCP 1.1, and DVI 1.0 compliant
  • DTV mode support (480P,576P,720P,1080i,1080P) for 50 and 60Hz
  • PC mode support VGA, SVGA, XGA, SXGA, UXGA, etc
  • Supports 640x480 up to 1600x1200 (PC), and 480p up to 1080p at 72Hz (Video)
  • Any resolution and refresh rate up to 225Mhz pixel clock is supported including 1080p/72Hz
  • Supports 4:4:4 RGB / YCbCr input
  • Supports 4:2:2 YCbCr input
  • Support both 16-235 and 0-255 color range and auto selects correct value
  • BT601 (component) and BT709 (HDTV) colour space transform support with auto mode detect for correct colour space
  • 14bit Data processing with high precision 200MHz 10bit DAC
  • Adjustable gamma boost for perfect shadow details and gamma tracking
  • Adjustable white level boost for output from 0.7V-1.0V for perfectly matching a display's expected input voltage
  • High speed 1GHz output
  • RGBHV output driver stage, allowing the use of long output cables without problems
  • Supports 120Hz for 720P and 1080i
  • PC plug and play
  • Metal box for cleanest electrical environment & high definition content processing
  • Global power supply (100V-240V)
  • Toslink (fibre optic) digital sound output of compressed 7.1 or uncompressed 2 channel PCM
  • Supports both RGBHV and RGBS output (user adjustable)
  • Adjustable sync polarity for both H and V lines (positive/negative)
Items listed in bold are new features since the previous EXT-HD box.

Whether the internal VIM-HD will provide a better image quality than the EXT-FULLHD is anyone's guess as nobody has both. The EXT-FULLHD isn't even out yet! The EXT-FULLHD does have some nice enhancements but then the VIM-HD is directly integrated with the Marquee.
