Got any screen shots? |
We didnt take any and I forgot to bring in my cam, but to be honest you can not capture the depth of his
image, i honestly now believe high bandwidth is not what it is only about, propper calibration with attention to low end
detail(shadow not sharpness), good mechanical focus and just 1080p at any frame rate above 48 is all that is needed.
His image feels as if you can walk right into the screen, especially the HD VHS of Moulan Rouge, the colors and shadow
details, not only in the dark scene's but in bright scenes its just as important. thoise dark corners in the room even though
its a well lit room has details that add a depth that has to be seen to be understood. I have not seen this with my system or the local High end shop RS2. It just seamed more natural is All i can decribe it as. Just Natural at its most pure definition.

Really! Huh. I expected better than that from a top-end LC projector. I just measured the ANSI on my vanilla Marquee 8500 and it was 50:1. I figured a good LC would kill that.
Glad you guys are having so much fun big dog!

Big dog they have a whole bunch of those in stock. I wouldn't though trust a single one of them after being new in the box and not plugged in all these years.
I see A LOT of G90 replacement parts around for a very very long time coming soon.........

Cliff and I were discussing these numbers and the posts on the other forum of the so called 750:1 contrast they have, we think its Bull, and after you see the stack you'll know why, his looks awesome at 80:1, Even tho Ken said he needed to change some things. I think the numbers dont mean to much, you get super high whites with a digital and not so low balcks and you'll have a higher contrast ratio but the blacks aren't black. And you gotta have black!

Dude, it was an absolute BLAST. I had so much fun and it was AWESOME to meet the person behind the "mask".
You just cannot describe the group of folks at my home this weekend. This is one of those never forget for the rest of your life experiences.
Off to take the Kids to the Lake County Fair.

Oh boy. Just got in from the 12 hour drive. Getting too old for this. But trust me, it was and is worth every mile. I got to get my sh*t together and try to get some sleep. I got some pics, but will have to wait until morning.
What a blast!

I bet that's why mine has better numbers (compared to Cliffy's) than I expected. I only measured the contrast in one spot.
I'm sure Ken's numbers are dead accurate. Mine are an amateur's attempt to guess at an approximate number. My actual ANSI contrast is probably lower than 50:1.

DO you then take the number from the 16 measurements and average them?

Mike is right! WOW!!!
It was really cool seeing everyone again, and meeting new folks. Cliff’s HT meets are an event; not just a “meet”. Or, as Mike (Skylooker) says, a reunion.
What a weekend.
Leave Virginia on Thursday about 2:00pm ET. I’ll get to Cliff’s area about 1:00am CT. So, reservations at the Best Western were a good thing. But, speaking to Cliff while driving there, he says, 1:00am is not too late; he’ll stay up and wait. Well, it takes a little longer than forecasted, so about 1:30am I call Cliff to tell him I was just getting on I-65 South. And, wouldn’t you know it I wake up Amy as Cliff fell asleep in the theater. So, of course I-65 South still has a detour and major construction. I miss my exit, finally get back on the road I need to be on, and follow the directions I had. My directions take me to the hotel, and not Cliff’s. (I left the directions to Cliff’s at home! ) Just as well as by that time, it was almost 2:30am and no way I’m calling Cliff. So, I crash for a few hours at the hotel.
Get over to Cliff’s Friday, before noon. Get BBQ set-up, watch a few minutes of House of a 1,000,000,000 Corpses (nightmares again for me), Cliff goes shopping, I sit on a conference call for work for almost 2 hours!!! Oh yeah and had a few beers…..
Arli gets over early in the afternoon and the 3 of us BS and watch a few clips and listen to some SACD and DVD-Audio. Man, it sounds sweet! Time to hit the booze store. What a fun place. Grab bottles of this, 12-packs of that, 6-packs of micro-brews, ice and we’re good. Get back, check the BBQ, ice down some beers, crack open some wine, make a drink for Arli (not sure what the heck it was called, but it’s one of those drinks that you can’t get a open flame around).
Arli and I go over to his place as I had never seen his HT before. What a cool place he has! All the work he has done looks really great! Oh yeah, his HT ROCKS! The “loaner” g90 cranks! And his OEM home made SVS subs, DAMN!!!! They will move you, I promise.
Get back to Cliff’s about 6:00pm. Cliff and Arli decide to do the mod to the g90 stack. When done, the pjs show a whole different story as for blacks; Black-is-Black. And I mean, black!! I’ll let them guy’s talk about that.
Getting late in the afternoon, and Ken is on his way, so we order pizza. And damn good pizza it was! Ken gets there and we watch a few more clips and BS for a while. Arli has to leave for work. Cliff, Ken and I mess around with the pjs (convergence, corner focusing, etc…). Well, Ken and Cliff did the work. I supervised while checking to make sure the beer was cold…..
It’s starting to get a little later in the evening, and what a better time to watch ECHOES from the David Gilmour BD. NOT!!!!! Ken and I told Cliff, maybe not now. The rest of the family might not enjoy it. Cliff says, It’s all good!!..
Well, if you haven’t seen the track I’m talking about, watch it and you’ll get an idea. When the song builds to the crescendo, and goes into WILD mode, I just new one of the walls in the house had collapsed. AND, someone was going to kill us! (That’s why I picked the seat farthest away from the door into the theater. I figured that if someone came in they would get Cliff first, then Ken, and I would have a chance of running out the door.) The subs in Cliff’s HT had to crack the concrete floor! I mean they hit HARD as I have ever heard anything! I thought for sure that if Amy did not kill us all, the ATF or FBI would, as they would be the next people thru the door looking for the C-2 explosives we were detonating. WOW!!! Well, that about did it for the late night HT clips using the subs.
So, Cliff, Ken and I go outside to enjoy a beer and wine. After a few minutes, we notice the street light across the street is really aggravating. We sit there and think of ways we could either shoot out the light, have a rock throwing contest to see who hits it, or possibly climb up and put aluminum foil over the part that shines at Cliff’s house. Hell, I thought I was 12 years old again……. We go back inside, and see that there are 2 chocolaty type pies in the refrig. Ken says, Are those for the party tomorrow? Cliff says, have at it big dawg! So, after eating some of both pies, and taste testing the BBQ brisket, time for some SACD and DVD-Audio listening. Again, WOW! I need a player for this format! (Thanks Cliff, again I owe you.)
Ok, 3:00am, time for sleep.
Saturday, it’s show time! Beautiful weather!!! Do some cleaning up, gotta get some more beer and wine as we put a good dent in it Friday. Folks start getting there about 1:30 and from there, it was a blast! Got to hear the subs in full force again, and again!!!! I love it!!
After the normal food and bbq, Athanasios breaks out the lamb chops. MAN!!!! That was some of the best food in general I have ever had. (Not a big lamb eater until last Saturday). I mean outstanding!!! He grilled a huge plate of them and they were history, quickly!!!
We all sat out back eating lamb chops and hade a few beers and wine (a bunch actually) and as always, got to hear Don Kellogg do his impressions of everybody as well as a bunch of jokes. “And we didn’t even need a reason”.
Dude, you are the funniest!!!!
Head back in for more HT clips and sound. Watched the new Dark City (thanks to Athanasios) and other clips. The night ended around 2:30?? I forgot.. I crashed while Adam (bbfarmht) and Cliff continued on. Don’t know how long……
Anyway head back home around 12:00 and get home 12 hours later.
I can’t say “thanks” enough to Cliff and Amy. They are larger than life; really. They’ll go to no ends to make sure everything is fun.
Now, I just need to recover before Williams meet in 3 weeks. At least the drive is only 20 minutes…
