|
|
I just tested some of the material available from here:
http://www.buildyourownprojectionscreen.com/catalog/c1_p1.html
I tested the 1.0/1.2 gain material. The 1.0 gain material seems fine and is comparable to 1.0 gain offerings from the "big guys" (e.g. da-lite, hurley, etc). If you are looking for a "traditional" looking 1.0 gain screen, this seems like a great option as the material for a decent size 16:9 screen is only about $50. Also, some clever folks could probably use this material for DIY roll down screens at an affordable price.
The sample I received was too small to do much testing on the 1.2 gain side, but I'm trying to obtain a larger sample to do more thorough testing with.

When you get screen samples, maybe you should ask for a sample of the black velvet border tape too. Price is reasonable, but from the picture it doesn't look all that "black" ...

They sent me that also (in a huge 3/4" x 2" sample). It looked OK but certainly not the best. The triple black velvet material available for like $6 per yard on eBay from seller syfabrics looks better. And given the fact that most only need 3 yards of it (that is $23 shipped), that is the way to go IMO.
