I was watching a movie the other day and one of my Ultras suddenly blinked (the image went black for a blink... less than a second or so) and then it came back very quickly but SLIGHTLY defocused and with slightly different geometry. I almost looks as if both the width and height had increased just a little.

This has happened already 3 times and it happens when I have had the PJ on for a while (2 hours or so). When I switch the PJ on for the first time everything is ok.

Things I've done so far:

- Verified ASR is OFF
- Re-seated chips in the CLM
- Changed C50 in the HDM for a new one
- Re-seated both the HDM and FGM

I have my Ultras ceiling mounted and opened. It may be a temperature issue.

Any ideas?

Take your control board out,
remove the deflection processor, clean the pins,
then re-install.

Thanks Steve!

Is de-naturalized alcohol OK to clean the pins?

Andreas, The marquees were designed to have the covers on, especially the front power supply covers. he covers direct the flow and keep the flow going to the right boards. try running the PJ with the all covers on and see if the problem goes away.

Andres, I had the same symptoms. Turned out to be a faulty HVPS

Good luck diagnosing, contact Tim, go through the usual suspects, HDM, FCM, CLM

I cleaned the contacts of the deflection board and re-seated chips in the CLB again. I've watched a few more movies and the problem hasn't happened again! Smile
