My main power supply board just blew on my Barco Data 801 that i was using as a backup unit. Boy when those boards go they really go! there are two one inch traces that completely vaporized, burning charred gouges into the board where they once were. ofcourse, I had to clean the soot off before i could see them! Assuming the old board is toast, what would a replacement cost? Also, would anyone know if anything else in the projector could have been affected by this board's failure? If anyone shows interest I might just part it out and save myself some money and hassle.
Anyone Interested?

Update-

I just pulled the SMPS from my parts machine and it looks like it is in good shape (no blown caps or sign of arcing, hotspots)

Let me know if you're interested.

Pardon me for jumping in here...

Erik, does your BD801 still contain the convergence board?
I could need the convergence driver (R762512) in case you'd like to sell it.

Have been talking about this issue with Curt since he's got tons of spare parts
lying around but he's usually busy as hell and has very little time to answer mails Wink

Kind regards

Carsten

Capa,

I still have all of the boards.

I'll check and see if mine is the correct PN, it may be different because mine is a "S" machine. If it is the right one I'll sell it cheap, just keep in mind that it is in "as-is" condition and this projector had problems and did not power up the last time I messed with it.

Give me a couple days to check out shipping. Can you post a picture of the convergence driver so I'm sure I'm looking at the right board.

Thanks,

Erik

Hello Erik.

No problem, thanks a lot for your help.

Maybe I can make a good deal and aquire a Cine8 the next days but
anyways it would be good to have the BD801 working again to give it away...

Capa and Kiev,

You should both check with Curt to see if parts from an 801s can be used in an 801, I'd hate to ship out the parts only to find that they don't fit on your end.

I'll get my camera and take picture of my boards so you can see if they match up.

Hello Erik,

any news for Kiev and me?

Just give me a price and I'll get the money to you somehow (PayPal or since I'm
working with a private Bank here I can even arrange a bank wire transfer to the U.S.)

Best regards

Sorry for taking so long to get back to this,

Capa could you get me a picture of where the convergence driver board is located in the machine, I did a quick tear down and didn't see it either in the rear card cage or in the front tray. I feel like a bit of an idiot not being able to find it when I know it's right in front of me.

USPS flat rate box is usually the way I ship but if you can find a cheaper alternative I'd be glad to send it another way.

Sorry i did not get back to you sooner i have been out of town. anyway if you still have that SMPS. i am ready to buy it. The differences between your machine and mine are pretty nominal. almost every part is interchangeable.

Kiev,

Where are you located? I may be able to ship it out next week.

Capa,

My convergance driver board doesn't look like the one you posted, mine is a single board on the backing plate, however it still has the two white connectors on the rear like yours and the RS-232 on the front. I'll post a picture as soon as I get my hands on a camera, better check around to make sure my board will work before I send it to you.

Regards

Erik

Hello Erik.

Does it look like this one?

This is from an earlier series of the BD801 as far as I know. Have one like this here
but it's incompatible with my PJ Sad

Regards

Carsten
