Howdy everyone! I'm new to the Forums and soon to own my first CRT PJ. I have been trying to find as many posts throughout the web that pertain to the HD-134 lenses, screen sizes, and throw distance. Ideally, I'd like to have an 84" 16x9 screen as my room is not huge. Gary Murrell has mentioned on occasion that he had trouble getting the 134 lenses to focus up right on smaller screen sizes. I know he had the 134's on an NEC XG, but would the lenses react the same with the G70VR?? A 92" screen would be just too big for my room, so 84" would be the sweet spot. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

Not sure how they will focus on a smaller screen but if they turn out not to work I'd be willing to trade the HD-18 lenses on my G70 for the HD-134 lenses you have assuming the C-element is the same.

LOL, and I'll even charge you $50 for the effort of taking your better lenses off your hands Wink

Yes, I'm 90% certain there will be very little difference between a G70 and an XG LC with 134s on a small screen.

Thanks for the replies...

Did Gary Murrell end up selling his 134s?? I can't recall if he was able to get it worked out on a smaller screen or not. I'm hoping I'll get acceptable results on an 84" screen. You'd think so. I know someone was able to get 144s to focus up fine on an 84" screen, but I'm not sure how different the 134s are from the 144s.

Nah,

I'm a nice guy, I'd take those lenses off his hands and send him mine for free Wink

What a swell fella! You'd think I'd be a sucker and fall for that, eh? After all, this is my first CRT PJ. I must be so naive that all the ravenous videophiles in search of HD-134 lenses are trying to take advantage of me Wink

But seriously, I definitely want these to work out in the end. I'll know for sure by end of the week. God forbid they don't, but if the 134s do not jive, I'll definitely not be making an even trade for stock G70 lenses. I would consider a trade plus cash though.

Thats Fine,

I hope they work out good for you. I'd be interested in seeing how much of an improvement they are over the stock lenses, with the HD-18 lenses I feel like I reach the limits of the projector before the limit of what the lenses can resolve. If you could get some 1080p 60 and 72 shots of your G70 VR I would be interested in seeing how much of an improvement it is over the standard G70.

Erik,

It was a substantial improvement when I owned that projector.

Good news for me it seems with the 134's and a smaller screen...

I'm having the G70VR calibrated about 90% on Wednesday. Won't have the last 10% until the Moome card arrives. Will report back results...

OK, to sum up, the G70VR with 134s resolves all the 1080p 1 pixel vertical and horizontal lines in the test patterns! Here's the rest of the scoop...
