Any idea why they used Toshiba CRT's and then are Toshibas any good?
Any ideas around the northeast Ohio area who may be able to fix it?

Toshiba = good and cheap, pretty standard for consumer RP sets.

Too far away for me. I'd fix it for the cost of parts only but the shipping would still kill you.

Well, Thank You kindly any way. Perhaps there's someone who knows someone in Northeast or southeast Ohio that's a repair Guru. I realize is ancient technology from 1995 but it still would be nice to save the poor dear. It and me's been some buddies on some lonnnnnnnnely weekends.

1995 is by no means ancient technology on this forum. Just ask 90% of the projector owners here. Thats the advantage of CRT's. Long life. Look at it this way, it's 13 yr's old and your just now having a problem. You'll never hear those words from a digital owner. Smile

I'm all for saving stuff whenever possible but, OTOH if you look at craigslist, people are selling older RPTV's for just stupid cheap prices. Seems like somebody is listing one every couple of days even in my little midwest city. I even see the occasional 4-5-year old Mitsubishi HD sets sell for under $1000.

I agree. I just picked up an 02 Mitsubishi HD Widescreen with the common convergence ic problem for 50 bucks. Parts are on the way and I'll be enjoying this one soon. Smile

So did you ever fix this thing? I am looking for an 80" screen and would be happy to buy it off you.
