What do you think a set of new P16 tubes be worth? They have been sitting for a couple of years and never installed.

Worth quite a lot to me but can't really give you an exact figure and I'm not at a time in which I can offer to buy them.

To be certain they are worth more then you can get for them. For example,... I think you could be happy to get $1000 for the set. I pay-ed more then that when I re-tubed but I don't think people are willing to pay top dollar for these anymore.

Hammerhead sold a few NOS sets a few weeks ago on Ebay for $1200 BIN with a starting bid of $800. Two or three sets were purchased at $1200 with the BIN and another one or two sets were bid up above $1000

So worth quite a bit.

Wallace,
I have been curious at what price new 8" tubes would sell at myself. I wonder if Tubular Outlet was selling sets for $1k, then how much demand there would be? At that price, one could do a blend with new tubes for a decent price.

I would say $1000 to $1200 to the right buyer maybe more if you are willing to ship internationally with the state of the dollar these days. Also I assume there have the standard air coupled Barco/Ampro/Marquee hardware rather than the Ampro LC hardware a number of these came with? I only ask because a number of us, myself, included got the Ampro retro tubes on GL and if somebody has to swap the hardware I would say that lowers the price given the effort and/or cost to do so.

To clarify, these are NEC XG type of P16 tubes? LC or non LC?

I'd say $1K to $1200 is about right for non LC, LC maybe add $100-150 per tube?

I think what Curt is asking is did the tubes come with an LC housing already mounted to the tubes. Or are they just bare tubes.

Oh, then I'd probably say $900-1000 for the set. Most people would want to buy them with the housing already attached. Still a great find though.

How do bare tubes(the biggest pita of anything if you ask me...) end up being so much more valuable than full, working projectors ?

I don't get it ?

Actually bare tubes are not the biggest PITA. Those in housings that you need to remove first are the biggest PITA. I did the Ampro LC to Barco AC swap a couple of years back and it I had to do it again I would probably go digital.

They apparently were out of NOS RP Sets. I think Darrell has a couple of more sets, email them to find out.
