|
|
Hello folks,
I'm new to the forum and hope some of you can help. This is a long story. I have got a couple of Barco Reality 909 projectors. When I first installed them, I had the set-up screen on both of them just fine. I finally tried to create a memory block for the signal I was sending one of them. I was able to make all of the adjustments, and all looked fine. The projector then shut the image down when I left the set up menu. I thought perhaps that something was wrong with the projector. Tried the same with the other one, and the project did not even display the image.
Now both will not even let me get to the set up screen. I finally learned that the line doublers that I was using did not output the right horizontal frequency that the projectors would except. So, picked up a couple of scalers. Tried it on one. The projector recognized the signal, but now I have two error lights. One on the RGB driver board. It suppose to indicate if the projector is muted (which according to the manual is not functional on this model). The other is on the vertical deflection board, and I have a bad feeling about that.
I do not wish to try anything on the other projector until I can get a better understanding of what is going on. It by the way has no error lights, and all the power and other green indicator lights are fine. Both projectors have low level glows from all the tubes. Both still will not give me a set up screen.
Can anyone help
Thanks !

What horizontal frequency was the scaler outputting before the failure. When you say error lights do you mean Red LEDs ? Does the high voltage come up op on the CRTs ?

The red led on the V-defl board is on when in can not lock to a signal i.e. it has no signal it can recognize. Same goes for the LED on the inputboard.
Do the fans turn on when you power up the projector? Does it repsont to the internal remote? Do you hear the HV crackle?
The 909 must be fed with at least 32kHz hor scan freq, as it won't accept lower signals. Try to connect it with a serial cable to a pc and see if the barco program on the pc can read something from it.

Hello All,
First I should get the tech questions answered. The 909 with the error lights are Red. All other lights are green. The projector with the error lights was sent signal horizontal at 37.8kHz, vertical 60.3Hz from the scaler. The manual said that it would not except horizontal frequencies below 32kHz. One light is on the RGB driver board for indication of "mute", which I might assume means mute the projection signal. The other light is on the vertical deflection board. As far as the high voltage is concerned, they both act like they are in "lock down", but there is no indication on either with the except that the glow from the CRTs is low.
We got the projectors from a projection system that had 6 for creating what we call Fulldome simulations. As far as I know, they were all working.
As to comment about me having the 909s. Alas, they are not mine, they are for work. I would not even have a place to put even one in my home. But the one that projected for a short time did look a lot better that the 1101s we had.
Hope I can get both of them up and running.
Thanks!

Sounds like the 909s were recently shipped. You could start by re-seating all the boards and check for any loose connectors. Can you enter any of the internal menus such as the setup menu with no input signal applied ?

I'm actually in Boston, but I know about the installation in Greece. I also think they have other Fulldome systems in their theater.
Thanks for the current suggestions, I'll try them this afternoon.

Thanks for all of you help. It turned out to be that the projector did not recognize what I was sending it. I sent it a straight compute signal and all was well with it. So now I need to find something that operates like an NEC IDC 2000, but a quadrupler with similar inputs and outputs of the NEC unit.
Thanks all!

Uh, I want some PICS. You can't come in here and post about your Barco 909's and not post some pics. Pics or you don't really have TWO 909's.
SC
PS - You suck.

Hey Chip. I had rotator cup surgery a year and a half ago. I had a torn rotator cuff with both the arthritis and bursitis brothers. It sucked. I had the arthroscopic type, five very small cuts, still felt like someone was trying to pull my arm off when the drugs wore off.
I feel for you.
