Hey, I want to do a reliability check one of my projectors before I sell it. I haven't really used it/in a long time. What is the best way do this? There is a "crt run in cycle" option in a menu. Or should I loop a video or something?

Turn the projector on, input whatever source you use the most and let it run for the 24 hours.

I would also check to make sure all the other inputs, and adjustments work as they should.

This is your 12xx machine right?

No, it is another machine that ive had for awhile and havent used much. I would say the make and model, but I don't want to break forum rules. I'd want to have a non static image from my source. I don't think I can set my 360 to loop dvds. hmmmm

Do you have a PC that you can hook up, IMO this would be the best way to do it, play a movie and make sure it is set on loop.

The Xbox has an A-B loop function. Works fine. Run it at low brightness and contrast in case something goes wrong overnight.

Turn contrast and brightness up to 100.

Make up a white-on-black image in photoshop that says "OWNED!!"

Now run that for four days.

You should be good to go.

Whoa.. thats rough.. lol

LMAO

I'll ad one thing.. whatever movie you loop, try to make sure it has a good variety of scenes(not a movie that is mostly outdoors with a bright sky)... Why take a chance on using mostly one particular area of the raster since you'll be running it for a long period of time at once.

Err, not that I would ever do something like that myself... Wink

It would sort of violate the rules because people would know that the OP has this particular working projector for sale.. Basically free advertising on Curt's site for the same product he sells..

Rule #1 here is NO advertising complete projectors for sale. One of the very FEW rules on this site:)

Actually a picture of Jesus or the Virgin Mary would GUARANTEE a quick sale.

That's not a bad idea... I mean, if it's valuable on a normal piece of toast, why not on a glass and phosphor piece of toast? Mr. Green

I saw a 51" RCA RPTV at Sear's once with the built in DVD player. They had the same "Grand Canyon" movie in there on repeat day after day. They had the screen saver turned off and right in the middle of the screen were 5" high letter's "Grand Canyon". I asked the sale's guy if he could please take that image off the screen so I could test another disk. He fussed with it for half and hour and finaly gave up Twisted Evil
I enjoyed that. Laughing
