I don't see the point either. For that much money you can buy a good HDMI switching receiver with bass management, etc.

Ohh I don't know. I like adding more boxes to my mish mash system. I'll wait 'till it street's and there's some feedback on it. So far I've added DTS, and a 6.1 processor to my trusty old system. I'm not a fan of reciever's.

Won't Moome's new box do this except for not analog but over toslink?

I posted the question in that thread but for those that don't check that forum, it appears that moome's new box will take in 8 channel PCM audio over HDMI and output it over toslink. Surely everyone has an old receiver or processor that can take in toslink!

Hopefully it isn't $399!

Correct. It'll do 8 channels of COMPRESSED audio. Only 2 channels of uncompressed (lossless) audio. The limitation is with the Toslink spec, not Moome's EXT-FULLHD box.
