I just picked up this Kloss Novabeam. How would it look on my 14' CIH screen?

Jeff

Only if you get an interlacer and stack it with another Novabeam, and send 540i to one and 540i to another. Make sure to line them up perfectly right. Try to stay under 20' wide. The picture gets a bit dim above 20'.

Welcome to the forum, Jeff! Congrats on your new acquisition. I knew some of you digital guys would start coming around.

As for the Novabeam, sorry no 1080p... No p at all in fact. Just i. 1080p... That's just a buzzword, anyway. Who needs it? Now, the picture might not be quite as bright as you're used to, but like Kal said - just stay under 20' - your 14' will be just fine! Unfortunately, the scan lines will be size of fence posts, but the black level will make it all worth it. Oh, and think of the money you'll be saving on bulbs and by not having to buy Blu-ray disks!!!

Actually Kal is on the right track. What we need is an interlacer box, that converts 1080p to 480 or 540i. Composite out. THink about it.

Thank you! My friend QQQ has always been a fan of CRT’s he finally talked me into one. He said if you get one, get only the best. My other friend, we will just call him “Art” was also thinking about going back to one. He wants to go with Sony 1010.Twisted Evil I told him NOOOO go only with the very best the Novabeam. Do you think that would work? Gosh, I don’t know why it took so long to come around; you “CRT Dudes” are really clever. I am going to hire a screen and projector consultant named reio-ta, Mr. Ta knows everything about projectors, screens and color reproduction. This is truly amazing since he has only owned a DWIN CRT projector for 2 weeks before it met an untimely death. I hope this is the beginning of a new chapter in home theater with my fellow CRT buds.

BTW don’t say anything to QQQ he keeps his CRT in the closet only bringing it out for special occasions; he can’t wait until the Blu-ray release of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.

Talk to you all later.
Its great being on the dark side now! hehe.

Actually I lied... the Novabeam will only do 480i so getting two of those and doubling it will only give you 960p. Do you mind a few scaling artifacts from going from 1080p to 960p? We can probably throw in a jar of vasoline to smear over the lenses to help soften out any of those jaggies that show up. Works wonders. Also helps reduce mosquito noise.

Kal, don’t be so ornery and get my hopes up, you teaser! I could live with 960p; I just hope it wouldn’t be too bright with two of those bad boys. I would hate to get sued by my guest because they were blinded hehe. As for the Vaseline I keep plenty around, get your minds of the gutter boys! It did wonders on the lenses to hide screen door effect from my digitals,

Gotta go don’t wanna miss Saved by the Bell, that Amber is such a hottie.
