I played around with HCFR last year and got pretty good results with my Spyder2 and G90.

Now that the 2.0 version of HCFR is out I'd like to try it again.

The first time I just told it I was using a CRT and went with all the defaults.

Is there a cal file or other guidelines for setting up a G90?

Can you use a cal file when using the Spyder2? I noticed that when you start a new file and HCFR gets to Sensor Selection dialog box, the 'use calibration file' option is greyed out unless you've selected the HCFR sensor. I'm using the I1 Display2 sensor and not sure I am using it correctly with HCFR since the feedback doesn't look even close. Any advice?

From what I understand (nobody was really clear about this when I asked on other threads, but it makes sense), the calibration files just give you the reference primary values for your specific projector. In other words, it'll give you the absolute BEST primaries that you may be able to get on your projector so that you can see how well your specific unit is doing. You can then compare them to the Rec601 (SD) and Rec709 (HD) known primaries.

Frankly, I don't care to know how well my exact projector does in reference to the best that my projector can do - I only care how well it does as compared to the Rec601 and Rec709 target primaries. So without a cal file you can still measure how far off of the targets you are, and you can always measure your greyscale too.

Someone tell me if I'm misunderstanding, but that's my understanding.

I want moome to offer HCFR sensors Smile

I just don't want to build one myself.

Prices between $150-200 should be ok.

I think it was Dlarsen on AVS who I bought mine from. He might be willing to build more if he has enough inquiries.

Does the HCFR sensor make any sense anymore? HCFR will likely support the new Spyder3 very soon and the Spyder3 is only about $150 and it's supposed to be very sensitive at low IRE's (likely more sensitive than the HCFR sensor).
