So I've been trying to set up my my Marquee reasonably well and I am having a problem. I can't get the lower right hand corner to square with the rest of the screen. I included a poor rendition of the problem I created in paint. I am guessing some sort of magnet thing I can't easily fix?

Also, I recently discovered I was never given to the password is to access the service menu. Anyone have any ideas there?
What's in the service menu?

Thanks for your help everyone,

Joe

These are kind of blurry, but you can see what I talking about, it's not as pronounced as the picture I drew.

Password is 0901.

Go into the convergence menu, down to 'service', enter 0901,. and use the interpolated green convergence. That wil cure what you see.

It's pretty close to maximum size, our screen printing shop is in an old building with really high ceilings...

Make sure you're not too close to the tube edge, that can also cause that curving as the image hits the edge of the tube/lens.

Looks like a problem I had when i got my 8500. Check to see if your scan yokes are centerd. I had the dip on the red towards the top left. here is the thread.

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=849010&highlight=convergance+problem

I thought it was abad CLM then a bad vertical deflection board when all along it was the magnetics.

How big is the screen? It looks like it'll be about 20 feet wide? I hate to say it but you're not going to get anything that resembles a good picture at that size. It's going to be dim and lifeless.

Perhaps it's not as bright, but I have to say it's worth it. I've set up the image smaller and it is brighter, but I don't think it competes with the huge screen. I mean how many times in your life do you have the opportunity to have a screen larger than the local budget theater? And really, unless you really know what you're talking about, as I am sure you do, the difference isn't that big.

I think the biggest thing I could do to improve the picture is buy that expensive projection screen paint.

I'd love to have a really big screen, however if I was going to go anything over 8' wide I would be using either a high power or a torus screen

I use a 12 foot screen(Dalite 1.3 gain) and it really does have a nice image if you dont mind the slight dimness. when i added my second Marquee in an over under stack it does brighten it up but at the expense of sharpness.

Thank you.

People with "stack"s pretty much ignore this FACT. When you "stack" you lose sharpness. Period.

And the gain in brightness is small. A well setup single is better than a stack *most* of the time....

It's very difficult to get a perfect convergence for a stack unless you're willing to really do your set up of each machine to perfection and eliminate drift in each individual machine. I think Cliff has mastered this with his g90's. As I have been doing the mod's to my marquee's I have noticed that the stack (when I have it set up) has required less tweaking to hold its convergence, a even temperature controlled room helps as well. It's not difficult to do, just requires the will and patience to do it correctly.
