Here's another list of projectors and assorted goodies for sale. I’ll feature the new additions and one projector that’s been here on consignment for far too long!

But first off… I’ve been doing some housecleaning (!) in the shop, a daunting chore to say the least. I’ve uncovered some goodies that I knew I had, some that I had forgotten about, and hey, some stuff that I had no idea existed here. So… I’ve listed, and am listing a whole bunch of assorted items for cheap on eBay. I’m blowing out some leftover new old stock items from doing sound system installations, a bunch of it of course can be used in home audio/home theater systems as well. Here’s a link to my list of auction items. I’m trying to list 3-5 items a day, so check back every few days to see what’s new. I always run 7 day auctions FYI.

See here:  http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZaudiovideotechnicianQQhtZ-1

Also, some of you might already know, before the CRT projector thing took off for me, I was heavily into repairing reel to reel tape recorders. I’ve got a number of years of experience repairing and aligning everything from low end consumer machines to high end semi-pro units. I’ve got lots of alignment tools for these machines along with a Nakamichi T100 and Sound Tech tape analyzer. I dusted off some of the units that I’ve bought over the last couple of years and haven’t gotten to, and have a few units for sale that are listed on eBay. I still have a near mint Pioneer RT 909 and three ReVox B77s and a couple of Technics 1500s that I am working on in-between projectors. Anyone over 40 either has boxes of reels in their attic that need to get transferred to CD, but chances are your deck is defective. I can sell you a deck that will work either for daily use, or buy it to transfer your old reels, then resell it to someone else. All of these decks have heads that are in spectacular shape, and the mechanisms are working well. As with my projectors, I put a number of test hours on the reel to reels before I sell them to make sure they are in 100% condition.

OK, projector stuff! As always, I went nuts again over the last few weeks and have bought a bunch more projectors, some of which I’ve looked at, some which I haven’t. To start with, here’s what I’ve looked at:

(1) NEC PG+ This set is in awesome shape, tubes are near mint condition. Low hours, case in good shape, etc. A great way to get into an EM focusing set for not a lot of money. Point board installed. Special price, $1500.00.

(1) Runco IDP 900. Same as the NEC above, great condition with excellent tubes. This is a black cased model, it has some minor marks on the case, exposing the white NEC color below. One small crack in the corner of the set, but since it’s facing the ceiling when mounted, you won’t see it. Point board installed, another excellent set. $1200.00.

(1) NEC XG 110. This is a customer repair-turned consignment unit that’s been here for far too long. He’s asked me to slaughter the price on it, so this is a one time price and deal for someone out there. 2000 hours approx on the unit. 110 Mhz scan rate, 1080p capable. The tubes are all original and in very good condition, case is in good shape as well. Complete with all of the NEC XG features including 100 point convergence, razor sharp image, fully checked over, etc. $1600.00. This is a BIG price break from the normal selling price of $2000-2200 that I’d normally sell this set for.

(1) NEC XG 75. Very similar in performance to the XG 100 above, but with a 75 khz scan rate, this set has a bit of green wear (but very usable), a hint of blue wear, and a red that’s in great shape. Case in good shape, a wonderful image on the unit, etc. $1500.00, or I’ll throw in a new green tube for an extra $700 (my cost) which will get you 9,000 hours + on the tubes.

(1) Marquee 8500. I got this in with a large lot of Marquees that I bought, and much to my surprise and pleasure, two of the three 8500s that I got in had right about 2000 hours total on the chassis. One set sold instantly, this one has a total of 2000 hours on the chassis, but 700 of those were in standby, so there’s only 1300 hours on the tubes! I don’t think I’ve ever had 8500s with this low of an hour count! Needless to say, the set is virtually perfect, all I’ve done is the power supply and anamorphic mod, mandatory for any Marquee that I sell. The case has some minor marks on it, nothing serious though. Priced to move at $2500.00. I’ve got one more of these that I’m suspecting that has a similar hour count on it, as they all came from the same place. I’ll update the site as soon as I look at it.

Sets in stock that aren’t looked at yet:

  • Runco 852- A Zenith PRO 900 with an internal line doubler
  • Sony G70- one owner w/ceiling bracket, manuals and remote
  • Sony 1292- 2 of them
  • Sony 12XX series- lots of these in stock again, ranging from near mint to fair condition, check the entry level set list below.
  • 7 more NEC XG projectors, LC and non LC. Unknown condition.

Other items:

Audio Authority 1365 transcoders in stock. I’ve got good stock again of the 1365 transcoders, that also act as a scaler, up to 1024p. Take any component signal up to 720p, convert it to RGBHV and scale it at the same time. My price: $275.00, that’s $24.00 less than from Audio Authority!
I do also have a few of the 9A65 transcoders at $175 USD. These work well, and do not have the internal scaling functions of the 1365 model.

Parts and such.

I’m about to close a deal on a bunch of NOS SD 187 tubes, including a LOT of blues and greens. I’ll be using some in my sets for sale, but I’ll FINALLY have a few tubes (tested before I sell them) that I’ll be able to offer to those of you that have ECPs, Ampros, Barcos and Sony 10XX sets with weak blue tubes. Email me, I’ll let you know when they arrive in a week or two.

I’ve stripped a whole bunch of sets recently, so parts selection and stock is better than ever. Email me if you’re looking for something.

One last oddity: I will be picking up a pair of 1960’s (I think) Electrovoice SP-12B speakers in homemade cabinets today. Those of you that are vintage speaker nuts will appreciate these speakers. I’ll test them before selling, but these are nice speakers. $200 for the pair of raw speakers, come get the cabinets if you’re local for free.

Parts n' stuff

I am adding parts to my stock daily. I seem to be one of the only places left that can repair virtually any CRT module down to a component level. With some other casual resellers now out of the business, rest assured I'll support ANY CRT projector out there, whether purchased from me or not. I’ve recently parted out a bunch of NEC XG sets, so I’ve got a great selection of XG modules in stock. I’ve also parted out a bunch of Ampros and have a good set of tested LVPS and HVPS in stock that are stable and run cool. Email me for info.

Parts needed

(2) Ampro 2000 style remotes. I've got a need for two good working old style Ampro remotes. I've got lots of sets but few remotes.

As many 8” tubes as I can get. I’ve got a lot of NEC PG, PG Xtra, XG, Barco 808 and Marquee sets that need green and blue tubes. I’ll pay reasonable prices for any 8+ condition blue and green tubes to finish off these 20+ sets that I have here.

(4) Sony 07MP or 07MSP tubes. I’d like to sell off the Sony 12XX units that I have here, but 4 have worn blue tubes. Again, I’ll pay reasonable going rates for good blue tubes for these.

(2) each of blue and green P16 tubes as used in the Barco 708 sets. Again, I’ve got two great sets here, but with worn tubes, they can’t be sold.

Thanks for your support!

Curt

I’ve got a whole bunch of NEC XG projectors in stock. I’m momentarily out of the LC series, but more are coming in shortly. The AC line of XG sets are the smallest 8” sets out there, and all of their models will display and lock to 1080p displays. I’ve got a good selection of ceiling brackets in stock, and will supply either an original NEC remote or a Pronto touch screen remote as I have either available. AS you go up in model number (from the XG 75 to the XG 135), you increase slightly in video bandwidth, so the pricing for the higher model sets are a bit more expensive. All sets are super sharp, have original NEC tubes installed (not rebuilds) or have original tubes in great shape as indicated below. Ceiling brackets available once again at $150 each with the purchase of a set. Add a Moome card (see the Links page) for complete DVI/HDMI compatibility and CRT will still be running circles around digital sets for years to come.

NEC XG series

  Manuals     Setup Tips     Specifications     Ranking

All NEC XG projectors are true 1200 lumen 8" EM focus sets. Digital convergence, on screen menus, video, S-video and RGB inputs are stock, the component option is available on the NEC XG 852 models. 100 point convergence allows for super accurate convergence. The NEC has more control over the picture than other 8" sets, making a full set up a bit daunting, but when it's complete, you'll find it's well worth the effort. Smaller than most competing 8" sets, they've been very reliable, and I've sold lots.

Here's the breakdown:

XG 75: Scans to 75Khz (past 1080p).
XG 85: Scans to 85Khz (and has component inputs!).
XG 110: Scans to 110Khz.
XG 135: Scans to 135Khz.

For home theater use, these models all behave very much the same.

'LC' models add liquid coupled tubes for better contrast ratios and less halo'ing.

Electrohome Marquee 9xxx series

  Manuals     Setup Tips     Specifications     Ranking

State of the art 9" sets.  9" liquid coupled tubes. 135Khz and 1200 lumens with astig adjustments for perfect corner focus. Scheimpflug adjustments are stock on these units.

Very easy to set up. Not as long as most projectors, they are about 3" taller than the Barco series. Very modular in construction, and super reliable. Video, S-video and RGB inputs.

I do all of the mods (including anamorphic squeeze mod, the power supply/filament mods, and replace a bunch of parts on the video boards that commonly fail) required to make the Marquees more versatile and reliable.

Marquee 9500LC: I’ve got two of these high end 9” sets in stock. Great condition tubes, no visible wear, great emission (g2) levels. All mods (power supply and anamorphic squeeze) done. One of the best deals going with high end 9” sets. Cases in good shape. Very reliable, the best picture comes out of a 9” set. Ceiling bracket INCLUDED with these two sets. Wireless remote and power cord included. I’ll preset the projectors for your screen size and will set several memories for various aspect ratios and resolutions. Boost the performance of these to beyond the Ultra level with the reasonable priced MP mods (see my Forum). These mods can be added at the time of the sale or added down the road as budget allows. Moome also offers a DVI/HDMI card for these projectors, again, see the Links page.
