Just came back from the local friendly smaller A/V chain, and the sales guy told me that Warner wants to make nice with the retailers, and will shortly be buying back a whole lot of HD DVD titles. So if there's something that's on the shelf now that you want, it might be an idea to grab it as it might not be there in a bit...

I dunno Curt. I follow 2-3 Blu-ray/HD DVD news sites on a daily basis, and this has never once been mentioned. If it was true, it would have been mentioned somewhere.

I find most retailers know little to nothing about what's going on in the Blu-ray/HD DVD world.

By me, Hollywood Video yanked out their HD-DVD wall display and movies already. I say already because it was only there for 3 or 4 months. The manager told me they were ordered to return all the discs to their corporate distribution center and not to sell them like they would an aged SD movie. Not sure what that's all about. It would have been nice to pick up some movies on the cheap.

Maybe the studios figure every HD DVD they save from being sold for $10 is a potential Blu-ray that will be sold for $30 in the future.

Well this sales guy told me this according to his buyer at head office. No idea if it's true or not, just thought I'd throw it out there.

A&B had more HD DVD titles than BR, and prices were still at $27-32 CDN.

Maybe they want people to panic and buy their dead stock and the info I got was complete BS, who knows.
