Just thought I would start a thread about the games we use to play.

Today on my cool list is

Aliens vs. Predator.

I just scored this for $5 at a thrift shop. The box is in excellent condition too! Thumbs Up
I never did manage to play the full game way back but I remember palying the demo quite a bit. I look forward to loading this up soon.

Look at the system requirements. I have a Pentium 200MMX gaming box that I built back in 1997. It had DOS, Win95, 64 megs ram, 850meg HDD, 8 meg ATi PC to TV card, 6 meg Canapus VooDoo card a 2x CD burner ( SCSI) and an ATi ISA TV tuner that had a jumper to the main video card. As well as the Soundblaster Awe64 Gold with 2megs 30pin ram. That box was tricked out! Every slot filled. Makes me wana resurect it.

I used it to watch TV, play games, listen to CD's, make CD's from vinyl (((((shudder ))))) ( though the sounded better than the over compressed CD's that the record companies pressed ) But I digress.

I had the coolest joystick. The Gravis Phoenix. I loved that stick. I think I own 4 of them. One is still NIB.
Then I bought a Logitech who's name escapes me right now. It was a full stick with a spinner to the left. A friend of mine loved it and kicked azz in Duke Nukem 3D

Here are a few box shot's:

I just looked up Duke Nukem Forever. It's taking, well, Forever! They started development of that game back in 1998! lol
It was originally based on the Unreal Engine but then they switched, dawdled and otherwise procrastinated.

The web site says it's still not available. Too bad I'm in a "What are you, some kinda scum sucking, bottom feeding algae eater? kind of mood.

I absolutely loved AVP on the PC. Its the only game that got adults into a dark room screaming when surprised. Everyone wanted to be the Predator because of its cool weapons, but the Alien was probably the best at getting out of threatening situations as it could climb walls and ceilings. Fox games killed that game by disallowing gamers the ability to create their own maps like Counter-Strike did.

Yeah I had issues with nausia in the beginning too. I had played Doom before but Duke3D made things spin faster. Quake was released shortly after. Wasn't as much fun as Duke, it just didn't have the attitude. I did play it a whole bunch solo though.

The cool thing about Duke3D was the connection. We use to connect at 9600baud direct computer to computer and game 'till our eyes fell out, usually around 5-6 in the morning. Then off to work for 8. Can't do that one anymore.

Then came Descent 3! Ohh man that was excelent! I played that for 5 hours strait, stoped, looked away from the monitor and hurled! Mr. Green The walls in my place looked like they were going in and out when I looked away from the monitor, and my equilibrium was done for the next day and a half. Thumbs Up It was such a good game. Exclamation

Hey there's a gaming fiasco I forgot about. I love space type flying sims and I had Descent Freespace, Wing Commander IV and a few more I'm sure. There was one that was all the buzz in the 90's. It was Battle Cruiser 3000. Aparently the creator of the game,Derek Smart, didn't want it released but the publisher did anyways. Well Version1 didn't work right out of the box!. The creator was so upset he released it for free on the net and through PC Gamer's disk in one of the monthly magazines.

Now it's available as a free download still so I'm going to fire it into the Win98 gaming box, maybe slap in a 3Dfx card if it needs it and see how it runs. Can't wait for the weekend. Thumbs Up

My first video game (Not PC) was a Pong, I think I paid $80 for it.

Here is cool mix the old classic game with Wii controllers running on a PC.

I couldn't wait. I tired installing Aliens vs Predator on this old Dell XP box. It sorta almost ran, really choppy. This has a rally crappy video card in it. I did get to see the opening movies in the game though. Looked good.

Mark Hamill was wise to pick-up that cameo role in Star Wars to pad his resume for his monumantal role in Wing Commander III.
