|
|
Hi,
I'm ready to get my LG combo drive for my HTPC and should be ordering it soon.
However I read *somewhere* that the LG drive has problems with the Nvidia Nforce motherboard chipset. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-M59SLI-S5. http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=2302
This board has the Nforce 590-SLI chipset.
Will this board work OK with the combo drive.
Thanks Guys,
Erik

I'm going to buy the LG combo drive tomorrow, I have the nvidea 8600gt video card in my pc now. Am I going to have problems with this or is it just the m/b chipset?

I've never heard of problems with 8 series Nvidia cards and the combo drive so you should be fine.

I have been using the LG combo drive with a GeForce 8600 256meg card no problems. I did switch to ATi however so I could use powerstrip.
Erick, not sure if the 590 doesn't work but the 430 was a no go for both the LG combo and the Plextor SATA DVD drive in mine. I had to conver to USB2 to make the LG work.

I have an 8600GT too.
you'd think Nvidia would get the message that their customers are bailing on them.
