Just thought I would ask if Moome is going to delay the second batch of EXT-HD boxs in order to implement any possible changes needed to correct issues being reported about the first batch. While I am anxious to get the box, I would rather see a delay and get a bug free box.

Thanks

Me too.
And depending on the time period, maybe a hold on the charges.
Keep a deposit if it is going to be a considerable time to fix and ship the second batch. But I don't want to pay the full amount and have to wait indefinitely for delivery of a bug free external box.

Update:

Moome emailed me that he figures that this'll cause a delay of 2-3 weeks at most. He's still testing the edge enhancement problem that some people (myself included) have reported.

I haven't seen the lock-up problem myself but I'm sure Moome's looked at the problems in posts and emails he gets and is working on it.

I am in the second batch as well. Fundamentally this is the same unit as he manufactures for the internal cards so I wonder what has changed to create this issue.

If I'm not mistaken, the internal cards all have gamma adjustment done with little add-on cards. The EXT-HD has a new way of doing this directly on the main board. I believe Moome mentioned in some other threads that different op-amps and other parts were used (?)

Several people have reported it. The EXT-HD gets locked up and will not respond to the remote OR to the front-panel buttons. The only way to unlock it is to pull the power.

I'm using 720p with Transformers in an HD-A2, but other people have seen the same thing with different sources. See e.g. http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=83637#83637. You indicated it might be the ROM writing delay, but when mine freezes up it NEVER comes back (I think!) until I cycle power.

How long of a lock-up should we expect when we change inputs?

Moome, I just ordered a Marquee internal card on Thursday December 6th. If you have not sent it out to me yet, are you able to put the old gamma module on it instead so I don't have this problem?

moome - is the gamma module in built or removable on the VIM version? the first batch of HDMI VIM cards had a removable gamma module. if it is still removable, could you just send me the card first as i would very much like it before christmas. it was in stock, ordered on Dec 6, so would have expected it here by now. then you can just send me the gamma module when you fix the problem

I just ordered my 1080p HD-DVD player. I am really looking foreword to the 2nd batch shipment.

I posted around two month ago, somewhat facetiously, that I wanted to trade a second batch unit, for a first batch unit and noted that first batch orders often have issues. I am glad no one took me up on the offer.
