I love it.

Do they make a ceiling bracket for that badboy? It will do 1080p, HMDI 1.3a right out of the box, right? Wink

It looks like I can get one for just about the same price I paid for my 1252:

Pissed himself laughing, regained his composure, put on a straight/mean guy face, and then toed the AVS company line.

Dear Sir, I noticed you have a picture of my mother in one of yourads on ebay. Could you please remove it.

If you do not, I will sue you.

Well done Kal!!!!!

I was only considering this as a parts donor as I have a retroblock G808s with minty tubes that are LC but just need the seal between the CRT and LC chamber re-done.
The line and field multiplier was also of interest if it would have been compatible.
And the deflection yokes as the ones I have may have been damaged by the glycol leaking into them.

Don't you understand, it was clear to me.

He's projecting the image onto his TV!

For the record i emailed this to the seller.

Dear ******,

Hello is this a Barco Cine 8 or is this a 808 both are completely different Projectors. Also would you consider shipping without the tubes, as the tubes are shot. Also your first picture seems questionable

Thanks

Have a nice day

- ******

Here is their reply

Dear ******,

THe first picture is someone being smart who has hacked into our system. Is a cine 8. You can do what you want with the tubes

It seems that this sellers "system" has been "Hacked" They don't even know what they are talking about. Nor do they have a "system".

I've got my own webservers and 2 domains i've never been hacked even though my FTP site gets hit bigtime with password crackers.

I thought i'd post this to make things even more interesting.

Thanks

Have a nice day

It went for just over $1220 AUD .. I had a snipe on for max of 1209 - JUST missed out.

Bugger

Then again, paying $1209 for an 808 .... I thought it ironic!

I think some of my comments about why I was interested in this projector have confused you, I was talking about MY G808s, the seller was not claiming his was a G808s.

You have to laugh at the seller's response to the changed picture though, if Kal changing the picture on this website is hacking the sellers 'system' then watch out anyone who has a website where pictures are being hotlinked to as you may be guilty of 'hacking someone elses system'. Laughing Rolling Eyes

I like the suggestion of sending it without the tubes but what if they are rebuildable?

I decided not to bid as it seemed like too much of a risk, the sellers response to the message about the picture just added to my distrust but that was after the auction ended anyway.

I actually had no intention of buying it. I live in the US(sadly). I really wanted to get their comment on the picture.

I have an old BG400, i'm working on making a list of caps to replace right now. Once i replace them, i'm going to build a good projector cart out of an old network rack. Right now the cart i have the projector on is top heavy and wants to tip over. Once i save up enough money, in about a year or two i would like to get the latest version of a 1209 with Iris from Curt, as well as some of the modifications that are availiable.

Kal should write a script that automatically puts an alternate image in when somone hotlinks this site. And make the hotlinked images completely random on each page load.

Thanks

Hacked?

That's like me painting graffiti on someone's house and then complaining when it's been painted over the next day! Smile

Someone feel free to email the guy again and explain how he's stolen / hotlinking the images from curtpalme.com which is generally a no-no.

Kal

It's actually quite straight-forward to not allow any other site to use photos or other files on my server... basically only allow our own server to access images/content.

But then we wouldn't be having this fun would we? Smile

As well, a lot of us use pics from the site from time to time here in the forum or other places and I have no problems with that really. What's not nice is when someone who's a direct competitor to Curt uses Curt's images and bandwidth to help them sell projectors. That's just not nice.

Kal

Kal, don't you know that hacking is illegal?
