Kal - I ordered my 3rd internal on Dec 6... are you able to find out the status on it?
I'm tempted to order another, but curious if there are any hold ups due to the new gamma modules

Best to email Moome directly. I don't know the status of any orders other than when people placed their order. Sorry!

Current batch is about 2/3 sold out.
Moome just sent me the following update today (Feb 18th):
| Quote: | | EXT-HD and IFB-HD, VIM should another week, MUX-HD will 3 weeks. |
So it looks like he's going to still make his Feb 2008 delivery window for the VIM-HD for those that have ordered.

Same as the last batch. No change.
Update: Moome emailed me this morning to say that he's on schedule to ship out the VIM-HD cards this weekend as he just got them all back from the factory:
| Moome wrote: | VIM-HD also back, we will ship out next weekend.

Any plans for a HDMI 1.3 version of this card?

Most likely some day (assuming that sales of the existing cards don't die off). Moome's working on a Sony and NEC HDMI 1.3 card now. Eventually he'll likely want to move all his products to HDMI 1.3 but that'll take quite some time (likely a year or two).
There's no huge hurry either really, as there's no content out there today (yet) that supports the only new video feature in HDMI 1.3 called Deep Color (or x.v.color).
Personally, I think the difference will be minimal at best, but everything's going to HDMI 1.3 so it has to be done (marketing).
IMHO, HDMI 1.3 gives you more on the sound side with lossless audio than on the video side. Lossless audio's available TODAY on most HD DVD and Blu-ray discs. Deep color isn't available on anything yet and may not be for many more years.
If you're holding off buying a card waiting for HDMI 1.3, you may be waiting for some time. I didn't wait myself. Moome's stuff always sells out fast and people usually have to end up waiting.... So if you wanted to upgrade in the future, you shouldn't have any problems selling the existing card fast

Thanks Kal,
Maybe it's just something I have misunderstood, but don't 1.3 have higher bandwidth, so you can send 1080P 72 Hz through it without the limitation of 165 MHz?

THat is true, according to the spec, HDMI 1.3 raises the signal bandwidth from 165Mhz to 340Mhz and the corresponding video bandwidth goes from 3.96Gbit/s to 8.16Gbit/s. The resolutions possible over single link HDMI at 24 bits per pixel goes from 1920x1080p60 to 2560x1600p60.
But none of Moome's documents for his HDMI 1.3 products (such as the XG-FULLHD) list anything higher than 1080p60 so while HDMI 1.3 may support the higher bandwidth, the associated electronics on his HDMI 1.3 cards may not. I really don't know.
Good catch.

| kal wrote: | The XG card will be called "XG-FULLHD" instead of "XG-HD" as the new card will be 100% HDMI 1.3 compliant!
Some quick info:
- Fully HDMI 1.3 compliant! Including Deep Color support! A first!
- Better D/A converters (12bit DAC) and op-amps than in any of his previous designs for the best image quality possible!
- TWO HDMI inputs!
- Toslink output, supporting up to 2 channels of PCM (uncompressed) or 8 channels of compressed audio
- Gamma adjustment/correction
- Remote control |
| kal wrote: | | So for $15 more you basically get the same as the other Sony/Marquee cards, but (1) better DACs, (2) better opamps, (3) 100% HDMI 1.3 compliance (not 1.2), and (4) Two HDMI inputs instead of one. |
| kal wrote: | | The XG-FULLHD is a culmination of everything Moome has learnt over years of building DVI/HDMI input cards for CRT projectors. It is by far the highest end card he has yet to offer. Too bad he didn't update the Marquee with better parts!! The Hyped xg "FULLHD" card has been hyped to be 1.3 with all of it's advantages since early fall last year, why no love for the Marquees MOOME?

IT looks like the XG card will not be full 1.3 bandwidth spec but a good improvement with 225MHZ
Here's what Moome said about the nex XG "FULLHD" 1.3 card's bandwidth performance .
| moome wrote: | | nzryan wrote: | ok,
so what is the max band width - 200mhz? - because of the 200mhz DAC?, does pre - dacs support the full HDMI 1.3 - 340mhz? |
the DAC can running 225MHZ no problem, and current hdmi chip only support 225MHz. |

What do you mean "no love for the Marquees?". You've got it backwards. It's quite the opposite. Marquee owners have had the VIM-HD HDMI card available for some time now, while NEC XG owners have been left out in the cold for a long time.
It's not as easy as just plunking 'better parts' into the existing VIM-HD. The entire card would have to be redesigned/balanced/tested. A hell of a lot of research/testing going into designing and building one of these cards. You don't want to just start over every time a slightly better part comes out. You need to get the most out of your product cycle. Just changing one part can have huge ramifications.
