Received my adapters c/w lenses mounted. The mounting to the Barco was very easy & mounted with no problems. Very nicely made. The picture improvement is very good with much better colors than the HD-8's. I had to move the screen about 3" closer but that was the only change to my setup. Thanks Barry.

Colin

I got my adapter and lens thanks to Barry and Chris.

sat down and started the whole process. It did take me longer than an hour to do. I do suggest that if you get them, get a dremmel ohhh notching out the screw holes will be a lot faster.
I thought I notched out the holes too big on a few of them but once you put the nut on the end all was fine.

Another tip, make sure you put the adapters on correctly. 1 out of 3 was a drag to having to take everything apart and redo it. My stupid moment.

For me as I have a BD808 I had to 1) move my pj forward which meant adding more unistrut to what I had (1 1/2hr) and 2) for some reason I had to shorten my ready rod by 5inch as it was hanging too low. That was a painful 2hr process with the help of a couple of people (cut one rod, then loosen off the other then lift into place and secure, cut that rod, then onto the back...blah blah blah).

So after 5+ hours I'm ready to calibrate it and well...beautiful picture indeed. I haven't finished everything yet, just wanted to get something going for superbowl but both my roommate and GF noticed a difference right away. Colours look incredible. Sharpness of the picture isn't as noticeable but the colour for sure.

Is this a mod worth doing? Oh HELL YEAH!!!! I woud recommend this mod all day long.

I'm very happy you like the results Scoobydoo.

Perhaps for a newbie onetimer the dremel would be better. But honestly for me, I found the hack saw method of cutting the slots a lot quicker and I've done lots of them.

What was the error you made that forced you to take everything appart? Should I make something a little clearer in the FAQ?
Thanks again
Barry

I put the adapter sideways. I would just mention that the adapter should go length wise. The Delta sticker should be at the bottom otherwise when you put try to mount the lens onto the pj the holes don't line up.

Oh I see what you mean.

I was toying with building a CNC machine to etch TOP on it as well as my logo. yet another project I started and sidelined... Sad
I'll look into making a change

this is in the FAQ...
“My locking nuts are at the side of the lens after i mounted it”
You mounted the lens plate 90 degrees out of phase. not the picture below for the correct orientation of the plates flat edge with respect to the locking nut slot.

That's what I did.
also be careful when you put the adjustment studs back in. I must have cross threaded or something, got stuck and broke the top off. crap.

that could work. But I think something in the instructions is all you really need to do.
Also maybe put "Please read before you start"...and we know how well that will work.

do you need another one? I have a pile of HD6s that are good donors. its a standard 8-32 thread.

I'll let you in on a little secret. this would be a mode advanced procedure and I didn't want to overly complicate the mod.
there is a second hole for that locking bolts on the lens barrel. You would have to Tap it to get the studs in. but the advantage is that it moves the stud further up the barrel and gives more clearance from the new mounting plate position.
