Hi
I guy that have a 1209 for sale here in Sweden said that when he toke the projector down from the ceiling it dripped out some coolant from the blue tube. So my questions
1. Is it safe to test the projector without full coolant?
2. Any good video or homepage that shows how to change the coolant (and what sort of coolant)?
3. According to Barcos specs, the minimum screensize is 2 meter (6.6ft). Is it possible to have it closer to get a smaller image than that (around 1,5 meter/4.9 ft) without any big distortion or is it better not to use the whole tube?
Thanks in advance
Here is the picture he sent of the tube

Hello,
Your first concern is not firing the projector without full glycol on one LC chamber, but cleaning the sticky stuff.
Glycol is very corrosive/conductive, so chances are big you will fry some boards. Clean the glycol first.
For testing purposes, you can start the projector without full cooling fluid (for one minute or so, and internal menu only, at low contrast/brightness. No active video).
The cooling fluid Barco used for the tubes is a mixture of ethyleen glycol (80%) and glycerol (20%). You can find here, under "Advanced procedures", how to change the glycol. I am willing to do it for you, should you not manage.....
1,5m wide screen is too small. Out of the proper focus ability of the lenses. A set of HFQ-900 lenses will bring you closer, but still....
It is also advisable to use the maximum tube width, else the contrast/light output/resolution will be compromised and the tube will prematurely wear.

The ethylene glycol I use (100%) is very stable in actual use

Oooh! We are looking at the same projector. Do you plan to buy it?
