Link Posted: Sun Aug 08, 2021 7:36 pm Post subject: THE GREAT BARCO 909 PROJECTOR AND PARTS SALE! |
|
|
I have finally set aside the better part of this upcoming week to run through Barco 909 projectors, board sets and once I get through those, my spare tubes. Here's what I have:
-4 or 5 ‘standard’ Barco 909 projectors. A couple are blue, a couple are black cased. Two came out of my own personal home theater, which frankly I haven’t used a lot in the last couple of years, and which is why they came down off the ceiling. My HT ceiling and house foundation thanks me! 😊
I also have one (and possibly one additional) 909 split packs, which are large black cases, tied together by an umbilical cord that has the connecting cables going between the two cases. One case houses the electronics, one houses the tubes and lenses. The advantage of these is that with the much shorter case, the projectors can be installed in smaller rooms, without the 44” depth that a regular 909 needs on the ceiling.
What I can say about all the projectors:
-all the projectors are late model firmware/software/build dates, typically 2001-2004 or so. The very early Barco 909s had firmware and some bad capacitor problems, these sets are significantly later build than that.
-all of these units came out of flight simulators, so they do have significant run hours on them. Since a lot of these were on 24/7, there was little on/off on these projectors, and in the 22 years that I’ve been servicing CRT projectors, the hour count is not indicative of reliability (or lack thereof). Both of my own personal projectors have in excess of 20K hours on them, and have been problem free in the 6 years that they have been on my own ceiling.
-all of the projectors will come with HFQ900 lenses on them, the latest and according to most people, the highest resolution lenses on them. One has a set of unmarked lenses on them that came from a Runco DTV1200, Runco had Barco take the labels off of them on all their projectors
-all will come with remotes, and I’ll preset the projectors for floor or ceiling mount, as you prefer.
-all projector cases will have some marks and scratches on them. The case parts do come off, and can be painted. I’ll leave that part up to you.
-the projectors have good used tubes in them, and I check all the tubes on an all white screen for wear and burns. Any tubes that have any problems or flaws will be changed out.
Each projector is $1,500 USD plus shipping.
I have 3 ceiling brackets available if you need them, at $125 each
I have limited sets of R and G colored C elements if you want them. $300 USD including installation.
I will also be selling tested and working complete PC board sets for the Barco 909 at $1,000 USD each. If you have a Barco 909, or will be buying a projector here, I strongly recommend that you purchase a complete board set. Once I have tested full working board sets, I’ll then sell off individual boards that I have extras of. Right now I have no spare power supplies or CRT neck boards. I do however have a ton of spare H deflection boards, and HV splitters.
Email me through the website please, do not PM me through the forum here, I'll lose track.
Thanks!

It looks like TENTATIVELY all projectors and board sets are now sold with email inquiries I've received since posting this. I will need 2-3 weeks to go through and thoroughly test all boards after I sell complete board sets.
The split pack 909 is still available however. I have a tentative buyer for it, however he wants to come to Vancouver from Seattle to view it, and with the borders being closed, that's not likely to happen soon. I may part that set out, as the boards and tubes are in great shape.
I'll update this thread as sets head out the door and if anyone bails on buying a 909.

True, although I don't think the US border has the same rules, and is still closed for non essential trips. I can cross as I do business with the US, so my cross-border trips haven't been affected at all, although I can only go to a gas station (and pay at the pump), and my shipping depot. No grocery store visits, trips to Seattle, etc. So I really stay within 500' of the US/Canada border at all times.

Not sure - I only mentioned it as you said they wanted to come to Vancouver from Seattle to view it, and if they meet the 14 day vaccination rule it sounds like they can... I'm assuming they will let them back into the US after.

As far as me selling complete working sets, no, this is the last of them. So, if you want one.. or a complete board set, now would be the time to buy one.
I may keep a test chassis here (split pack) to test and repair boards in, and to test quads, etc.
