|
|
Hey Guys, I recently picked up a Sony G70 throwing error code 29. I have been advised to replace the B-board (RGBHV input board). I’m looking for any leads to anyone who might have a functioning board available for purchase. Hoping to get this sweet projector up and running soon! Thank you all in advance for any help.

Give it a few days or weeks. Not everyone checks the forum every day.

Yep. Given the state of CRT projectors (i.e. few use them anymore) there are very few people left on this forum. It could take weeks if anyone responds, if ever. Most have dumped all spare parts too so the chance of finding replacement parts are slim to none. Couple that with the fact that many parts will be very old and not working too.
EDIT: I've also moved this to the BUY/SELL sub-forum.

Hi Dan,
No, I haven’t found one. If you have one that’s functional, that’d be great. I would also be interested in any other G70 boards to have as backups. Thanks a lot for responding!

I see that www.dalbani.co is selling supposedly good STK392-220 chips. I've dealt with Dalbani through eBay with no issues, although I know there are a ton of counterfeit chips out there for that part number. If you have no other luck, brush up on your soldering skills, and take a chance on the Dalbani ones.

Sorry, ignore what I posted above. You do indeed need the RGB input board. For some reason I was thinking that the 29 error was a bad convergence board.
While I was googling though there's a post in this forum back from 2009 that had the problem being one of the chips on the YA board, the CPU board. The poster changed the RAM chip with the memory battery on it, and that cured his error 29. That may be the problem with your set as well, but I'd guess to change the RGB board first.

Dan,
That looks like it. I’ll take the G70 apart sometime this weekend (hopefully this evening), and take photos of the board. Are all of those boards that you have for G70s?

Curt,
Thanks for the info. I want to have at least one spare of each board. I know all of these things are going to get harder and harder to come by. Replacing parts on the board is not beyond me. I have begun soldiering since I got into the CRT hobby. We’ll see how it goes. Super excited someone has finally responded.

Here is a photo of my B board. It looks identical to yours. Are you keeping all of those boards for yourself, are would you be willing to part with them? I’d like some spares. Also, are those boards tested? New or used? Thanks again! I’m excited to get my G70 up and running for the first time since I got it.

Dan,
Also, if you wanna let me know what you’re thinking, price-wise, we can go ahead and get the ball rolling.

Gek,
I know Curt talked about it could be the YA board in the post above. Can you pm him and ask what he would suggest.
All boards came from working projectors and are good as far as I know. PM me an offer even ask Curt what he thinks.
I’m open to reasonable offers.

Curt, I’ve tried to PM you, but it doesn’t seem to be working. Looking for some pricing/value info on used G70 boards.
