tried it once , but did not work on my PJ.

still have some extra philips diodes and 10kv caps, will try and rebuild again.

I am thinking someone either in the US or China is already rebuilding these.

actual barco quad uses philips diodes rated at max 19kV only, and vishay caps were rated at 10kV only.

The problem isn't finding the correct parts, it's the crucial resealing of the quads. The closest I ever saw that could have been successful is putting the quad into a vacuum, so it pulls out all air bubbles from the poured silicon. Air bubbles cause arcing within the quad, and almost immediate failure.

The ones potted in a vacuum lasted about an hour before they died too.

I once tried emailing NTE to see if they would custom build quads, but unless I ordered 500, they weren't interested.

Yes ,

Tried to do one many years ago,
had some arcing , it came out of those screws that connects to the PJ chassis.

I am looking into making a splitter also, need to grind through the epoxy resin to see the cap values and resistors.

Can not find the old thread about splitters.

Good info
We should post pics of our efforts
I bought a vacuuming chamber
Maybe I’ll not replace those screws
And zip tie it in ?
Any ideas why the ones failed curt air bubbles ?

Likely age, really. 34Kv over a 20-30 year period isn't a good thing. Also, the later revision quads (762XXX and 763XXX series) used a different potting compound that would go conductive over time. Electrohomes did the same thing, NECs and Sonys, rarely compared to Barco.

I've had quads and splitters crack from heat, causing massive arcing everywhere. Always fun to see!

Wow that dosnt sound pleasant
The quads I’ve pulled apart both have magnets broken on transformer
I only assume this isn’t cause of failure but tempterture
Apparently but my googling as long as all bits are there
The magnetic 🧲 field will still be ok and should work.
Curt got any failed ones You want to get rid of?

Do the spitters age as well ? Haven’t had one go yet
But only had my barco for 1.5 years 550 hours
