|
|
Hi i recently landed a G70 after periodically searching on our local "marktplaats" for "crt projector" in the end i bought a ProCinema CSR screen and basically got the PJ for free.
I dont have a lot of space and ceiling mounting is not considered an option for my SO.
So can anyone tell me if its wise to mount a crt projector vertically, aiming it to the ceiling bouncing of a mirror ? Will gravity damage the lenses or tubes ? I am apprehensive because i dont think ill be getting a lot of spare parts for this beast so i want to treat it as gently as possible.
I googled everywhere from here to avs forums but i cannot find a definite yes or no answer, just mentions that people have done it but no write ups or pictures.
kind regards.
Oliver.

It works fine -- see e.g. http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8149. Search for "vertical mirror" and there are a few other posts.
It's gonna work best if you get a first-surface mirror. A normal mirror will reflect from the front of the glass and the back silver layer and give you double images. And it must be perfectly flat, no cheap distorted funhouse mirrors.

Yes you can. Have a look at CRT rear projection TV's. That's how they do it. Also, check your local electronics recycler for a first surface mirror out of a rear projection TV.

Hi, thanks for having me.
Never occurred to me to look in the hometheater threads ugh.
Thank.
This will greatly reduce the surface area the pj will occupy.
So basically i will try to make a rolling mount for it so i can roll it out of her way😂.
Ill make 2 mounting holes in the floor so that the pj position doesn’t change.
It will be a little top heavy So ill need retractable stabilizers.
Now to get her to let me hang the retractable screen from the ceiling.
