|
Hi everyone,
I have a problem with my 1209s that started a few weeks ago.
Once in a while, the left side of the picture starts shaking towards the middle, it's like left side blanking. the problem comes and goes.
I know the drill, I have to pull out board by board and replace them until the problem disappears.
I was hoping you guys can help me with the immediate suspects.
Thanks,
Or

I had similar issue on my NEC XG there the retrace setting relay had contact problems. I am sure the 1209 also have such relay on the H deflection board, other than that the scan reversal switch or any connection relating to horizontal deflection can be suspected.

Hi Curt,
I'll post a video once I catch the problem. It didn't happen yesterday.
Hi gjaky,
I guess I'll start by replacing the H deflection board.
Thanks,
Or

Hm, it is more violent than I thought, this is not the connecteors for sure, more over it has nice sinusoidal response, so it really could be a whacky blanking signal.

Hi,
I got to work on the problem during the weekend, the problem disappeared when I replaced the RGB Switching card (with the attached QUAD Decoder).

Well, the problems are not 100% over yet.
Now I have a very strange problem:
If I keep the PJ's chassis back door open, everything works fine, tested for days.
If I close the back door, after a few minutes the picture starts to distort and looses lock of the input signal, with no way to bring it back.
I have a feeling this is some how related to the boards I replaced, but maybe I'm wrong.
Any thoughts?

Well, it happens fast.
Some of the vertical/horizontal lines are becoming diagonal and then I get a black screen and source not available message.
I can hear a high pitch noise from the cards I replaced, like it is trying to re-lock on the source with no success.
since it's working properly with chassis open, doesn't this mean this is related to sensitivity of the replacement boards to heat?

Or grounding, or dodgy connection.

So, how do I troubleshoot this problem?
