So I noticed that when viewing a black image from my G90, that there is some noise in it. It's kinda like radio static, very faint random and blotchy. I figure it could be coming from a dozen different places, such as, the HTPC, the RGBHV cable, outside source... Any ideas which is the most likely source?

Say Deron

Look into each lens. Is it one tube or all? Raise the brightness a little, does that affect it? Make a shorting plug on a BNC connector and try that on the RGB In ports. Do you see it on internal test patterns? Is it just on satellite or just on BluRay?

I will give those things a try.

So the shorting plug is used on R,G then B? And look to see if that eliminates the noise?

Right. If it is RF leaking in it might ground it out. Helps determine if it's a problem in the G90 or something external. Try also shorting the source end of the coax cables, if you are using coax.

OK, I took a look at the tube faces and noticed that the black image noise was only on the blue. I also noticed that it looks like it is no longer present on the projection screen, just limited to the blue tube face and very faint. The G90's history is such, that it has not been turned on in years. So that has me thinking, it needs some running to get all the cobwebs cleaned out.
