|
|
Hi Guys,
Picture is extremely sharp for a CRT and lots of detail, due to modifications and HFQ900 lenses. From close to screen you can see scaliness corner to corner. Only fault at this moment is that on white or bright images you can see horizontal lines. Does some people recognize these fine darker and brighter lines in a well setup barco 909 serie? See pictures:

Yes I think I have them too. Mine do jump all over the place.

Mine also has this, and since swapping the tubes it is more noticable. I also have scanlines visible up close from corner to corner.

Does yours buzz and squeal with different levels of brightness?

That looks like a switcher or driver board problem.

I doubt it, as my set does it with both my switchers and RGB drivers.
It seems to coincide with the buzz, and that is on the EHT side of the set.

How much improvement can you say for certain came from the mods Francisco?
Did it improve the MOOME internal as well as Greg states it will?

Id expect if that was the case youd see the same on any 1208 or 1209 as well, and id expect Greg would have that sorted by now.
But you could be correct Keith. If there was a way to remove both those boards and bypass them completely it may prove one way or the other.

The 1209s and 808s have a similar video chain as the 909 except for the RGB end stage. The switcher and RGB driver boards are just earlier version of the 909 boards. I do remember reading a thread somewhere and I think it was MP who said that Barco put lesser quality caps on those boards on the 909/Cine9 so perhaps that where the issue is.

Would my 2 boards work in your set?

I think i saw this on my 909 also.
But on my Cine9 not sure if those lines are there or not.
Cannot check right now cause my HT is in the build process.

Nope I don't have that. That sounds like your quad is dying any time soon.

Yes it did, 1:1 SMPTE is much better. higher bandwidth, and very tight spot size. result very sharp detailed picture with very good ansi contrast. I will post screenshots in future but work comes first.

I will contact Greg about it or another Barco friend. It's not sorted yet and it seams to become more visible when you have better sharpness (tighter spot size) in your set.
By the way the lines I see are NOT moving, so it's different with yours Redfox.

Mine dont move either. Its hard to believe the image could get any sharper than i have now, although since changing tubes i have only done mechanical astig and left digital adjustments at center. I will do all that when i intall new tubes, but its pretty damn close as it is.

My blue tube had issues, and after swapping all three i think the focus issue i had on the sides of my green were the tube, because this green in there now is razor sharp all over. The red was never as sharp as it is now either, but it was even all over before, where as now it is sharper.
I have simulation tubes sitting here to install that i will throw in the original housings once i remove the original tubes, and im going to go with the ice clear coolant at the same time.
The mods are bloody expensive, it would want to be a big step up to justify that cost, and its allready very sharp.

Not sure if it has something to do with, but there is a service bulletin T589 about reported oscillations of the end stage and image instability. Replacing eight 10 ohm resistors with 100 ohm variants on the convergence module is the solution.
All convergence modules with index 2 or lower have the issue. Index 3 and higher got the adaptation already.
Take a look at it Francisco. If you don't have the service bulletin, i will PM-it to you.

Don't know how to say it. They don't move but they jitter. I mean it is not a steady shape it seems like a noise of very fine hairlines but it is remarkable horizontal. I checked my Marquee yesterday and it has the same noise hairlines. I think it is on every crt. Only vissible very close to the screen so I realy don't care
