That mobo’s 20 years old - no issues with old caps Jeremy? What are you using it for?

I don't think caps are an issue on boards from that era, and that is because the CPUs consumed much less power and running on higher core voltage, therefore relaxed ripple current demand from the caps -> longer life.

The caps may not have been pushed as hard, but all e-caps have a lifespan. After 20+ years I'd be concerned, though it depends on how the device is engineered (you can engineer something with the assumption that caps will fade and design for 50 years of use, though most manufacturers do not - this is not military grade stuff going into space Wink ).

I might have that CD ROM I must check. Thats just a parallel SCSI interface. Yes sure do have ram for Pentium Pro 128m 60ns. I have loads of ram but I think a big chunk of it is ECC or Registered.

I also have some 64m 50ns EDO.

How many pins are the ram slots?

Nice! I should sell you my AVM Summit midi sample ebox to go with that - I still have it! (Paid a small fortune for it back in the early 90s). A sample of the sound quality: https://youtu.be/eLZHrzIaK30

Inside pics: http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~wz4k-tnk/digital/summit.html

The Kurzweil sample quality was/is amazing for 1994 timeframe. Great for gaming.

Hmmm I litteraly *just* put the pentium pro away. I'll count when I see it again.

How many pins is that 64m 50ns EDO?

BTW your motherboard is around from the millenium, it is in fact a „super 7” motherboard supporting AMD K6 processors all the way up to 533MHz, competitor for the Pentium II line. So adding an ISA sound card would not be faithful for the system, a Sound Blaster Live! or Aureal Vortex card would be a better match.

Nice cards but ISA works better in DOS.

I saw a nice AMD K6-3 450 Chip for $28 on eBay. OR a 200MMX for $8
