Good afternoon all,
I got a gammaxx in hopes of boosting my CRT monitor's gamma. Kind of a "have your cake and eat it too" thing. Anyways - it appears to work, but it works too well. No matter what setting I use, the image is just washed out. Here's my signal path:
Nvidia GTX-770 > DVI-to-VGA cable (Nvidia is DVI-I for analog) > Gammaxx > CRT monitor.
The gammaxx is plugged into the usb port of my computer. It didn't come with a power supply, but I'm thinking that a USB power supply should be enough should I need to use one?
Anyways - any help here would go a long way. Thanks!

Are you sure you have the GammaX the right way around?

I didn't even think of that. I put the video cable from my video card into the "input" end of it. For the heck of it maybe I can try it the other way around...

It was designed to have the Male end as the output to plug directly into the back of a monitor. Also try with and without the power connected. Just to see what it does.

Well it still looks a little washed out, but it's looking a little better. I'm running no power. I can try power to see what happens, but I'd need to rig up a usb power adapter.

Okay, running power to it makes no difference. Essentially what happens is this:
1. Overall white level takes a significant hit. Peak white goes from 85cd/m2 to 75 cd/m2 with the same Contrast setting on my monitor (Sony GDM-C520K)
2. Gamma level is too low (high?). At best I can only get it to go up to 1.9. I would obviously prefer 2.2.
3. Image flickers.
I'm wondering if my GammaX is not making good connection with the monitor input?

Too bad I lost track of my gammaX, I could do a test. I have 5 of those awesome monitors.
Sounds like you have a bum GammaX. Does the picture look OK with the GammaX out of the circuit?

Yeah, picture looks a-okay without the gamma x. Sounds like I have a bum one indeed. I bought it from eBay as a "new" unit. Should I just message the seller and just tell him that it's not working out? Pretty sure I threw the packaging out.
