Guys, I am back heavily into commercial audio/video installs, and have three multipurpose rooms to quote right now. They have 10 year old existing projectors with VGA input only, with external switching and Kramer boxes to add HDMI. It's all going to be replaced.

The one thing that the client mentioned is 4K capability. Now, Canada is about 5 years behind the US, I don't even know if we currently have 4K streaming here in Canada.

Most corporate projectors don't even do 1080p unless you spend more money, it's all simply downscaled to WXGA resolution (1280 X 800).

I told them that 4K probably won't be mainstream for a few years yet, at which point they might even be buying a new projector.
Should I:

a) Not worry about 4K at all
b) Put in 4K signal switching/distribution and give them an option of a 5000 lumen 4K projector (if that's even available)
c) Quote everything with 4K?

THe system is mainly going to be used for computer presentations and/or movies. Currently they have a VHS/DVD player which is being replaced by a BR, a Tascam rack mount one.

Thanks!

Or at least include an upgrade path to 4K,

Do two quotes, one with a full 4K system and the other being a non 4K system. But include a 4K path ("4K signal switching/distribution" and include both standard and 4K HDMI cabling) upgrade for the non-4K write up.

I'll bet once they see the price difference they'll ditch the 4K option. Not to mention the current source was VHS/DVD...standard BD will blow their mind!
