Hi all,

my Cine 9 is running fine but i have some kind of extreme background video noise. I'm not talking about film grain.

Same on port 3 or on port 5.

Tried 3 different cards (moome and fury). With all the same behaviour.
Swapped also the complete front tray to test but also the same.

Tubes are brand new.

What do you think ? Video Input board / Driver board issue ? Power Supply ? EHT ?

cheers
ElTopo

Are you feeding the pj a signal? Is the noise visible on internal test patterns too? HDMI cable issue?

Signal is coming from an Oppo with HDMI (checked also different cables but the same).

I have to check the internal pattern.

I would also check the player just to rule that out too. Is the noise visible on the tube faces and on all 3 colors. My Barco 808S would show noise on green with and without video signal.

Checked all three colors and it's on all of them.

Also the internal genlocked pattern shows that noise.

So the player/signal should be out ?

try connecting the pj to a wall outlet that is not grounded or unplug all other earthed devices.

if you have a spare power supply and/or controller card, swap those out to see if the problem goes away.

If you set convergence and geometry temporarily to midpoint, does the noise in the image change at all?

Can you take a pic of the noise. Might be easiest to see on the green. Sometimes that can be indicative of the problem.

Checked Oppo 203 vs Oppo 93 with the same rez.

The Oppo 93 shows less video noise.

Is this projector a real Cine9 or rebuilt 909 to "Cine9"?

Do you see this all the time? In white and black, in all material?

Hi,

it is an original Cine 9 (CineMax).

Mostly visible on very bright scenes (like a Sky with CloudKit) and bad UHD/BluRay masters.

cheers

Whats the difference? Apart from the coloured C elements and firmware aren't these units the same?

Yes, these are the same.

Only difference is the fan control. Otherwise 1:1
