I've been using tape since 1974...never had any issues like that. Must be the air up there.

Quote: | Bloomberg Businessweek recently toured National Audio Company, a shop in Springfield, Missouri and one of the last and definitely the largest remaining manufacturers of the classic audio cassette tape. It’s almost adorable to see all the old machines whirring to pump out tapes that you thought no longer existed.
Surprisingly and improbably, NAC made more than 10 million tapes last year and business is booming!
|
I found a bunch of 8-tracks while searching for vinyl last week. Some still unopened. My first car had an 8-track player (and my first home stereo), but I had a nifty cassette adapter.

I have but that was a Europe only PAL area thing. Never made it over here to Canada. I like the flip the cartridge for double the play, however, I wonder the picture quality when only 1/4 inch tape is used. It was a 1/2 inch tape only half used because of the flip over feature for double the recording length.
I do like the LUT they used to tell the length of the tape based on a FF and REW to sense the tape tension and the cassette edge sensors. Great features. Where were they manufactured?

Hi,
Look here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_2000
The Grundig manufacturing plants were about 150km away from where I live. In the early 80ies I attended a training for Video 2000 service technicians at Grundig. Quite fascinating!
Due to the much smaller tracks on the video tape, they put the video heads on piezo-electric actuators. Only by this they could ensure that they didn't go off the tracks. As a bonus they got rid of the tracking control knob!
Regards,
