|
Iīm looking for a Blurayplayer that will give me maximum image and audio quality but without various streaming apps etc. I read a lot of reviews but they all focus a lot on other things than just image and audio. I was thinking about Pioneer LX-58 but if I can get the same image and audio quality (for a lesser price) with another player but without all the features that the Pioneer has I would chose that other player. Compatibility with different audio and videofiles is also important.
I would connect the bluray player to a Lumagen Radiance and then to a Barco 1209. I've used sony s7200 for a while which was decent but it doesenīt support DD plus.
So I would appreciate any suggestions for an upgrade.
Thanks

Since you're feeding a Radiance with HDMI, you'll be using your Blu-ray player as a digital transport only, so image quality will be the same with any player as bits are bits.
If you *incorrectly* set something like Black / White level in the player or muck around with any built-in image 'enhancement' options then all bets are off however. Keep all the features 'off', set your black and White level correctly (0-255 or 16-235) such that it matches the rest of your signal chain and it won't matter what player you use.

Thanks for your quick reply. But how about audio? Does the same rulues apply there or is there more to think about? I donīt have any hdmi om my amplifier so I can only use either spdif coaxial or optical spdif.
Thanks

Both spdif coaxial or optical spdif are digital too so the same logic applies (IMHO) that bits are bits if you're just using the player as a transport and not doing 5.1, 7.1, or higher processing in the Blu-ray player (but instead using a receiver or pre-pro).
I know there are some people that don't believe that bits are bits, but well, they can chime in too.
Now all this said, I wouldn't go buying the cheapest player you can find as there's some real junk out there for $40 that probably takes 5 minutes to load a disc and has general poor build quality.
