No surprise!

I never really liked it myself.

It will forever be a novelty as long as it requires you to wear something extra on your head.

Make it glasses free and work in free space and it'll catch on.

Pretty much what Chris said. Any time you require additional things to hook up just to work, it just limits the consumer base even more. Because not only do you have to own a capable tv, but also a capable player, glasses, and software? Yeah - no. That gets complicated for people who just want to sit down, and watch the damn movie.

Kind of reminds me of video game console add-ons. Specifically - Sega CD and Sega 32x. You had to have a Genesis to have either of those two, and then you needed special software to take advantage of it. Never caught on, and the benefit wasn't deemed to be worth the expense.

The manufacturers tried using 3D as something for people to upgrade. I never really cared for it. I don't think most people did either. It will remain a niche.
