It is with great sadness that we learnt yesterday that one of our own (Kim Beumer, forum name 'beun') passed away recently.
Kim's been a long time member of our forum and was the founder of Crescendo-Systems, an A/V company who's products we featured on our site.
Kim was always a pleasure to work with. His no-nonsense approach to product design fit very well with us and his customers. He always 'told it like it was'. Kim earned a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Technical University of Delft. In addition to his Crescendo-Systems company, he worked as a Principle Electrical Engineer at Samsung, and he earned multiple patents.
He will be missed.
Our thoughts go out to his friends and family at this time.
His obituary is here: http://obits.dignitymemorial.com/dignity-memorial/obituary.aspx?n=Kim-Beumer&lc=2357&pid=172978421&mid=6175968
Quote: | In Memory of Kim Evert Beumer
June 9, 1962 - October 26, 2014
Mr. Kim Evert Beumer, 52, of Richardson, Texas, passed away on October 26, 2014. He was born to Evert and Cynthia Sman – van den Hemel in Holland on June 9, 1962. Kim is preceded in death by his grandmother, Leopoldine Hedwig van den Hemel-Schafer. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, his spouse Leszlie D. Beumer-Gray, and a host of family and friends.
Kim earned a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Technical University of Delft. He worked as a Principle Electrical Engineer at Samsung, and he earned multiple patents.
He was a great husband, wonderful uncle, and a wonderful son-in-law. He will be greatly missed by all.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 12:00pm at Sparkman Richardson Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at a later date in Beneden Leeuwen in The Netherlands.
Arrangements under the direction of Sparkman Richardson Funeral Home. If you wish to coordinate your floral arrangements with the family's selections, please call the funeral home at 972-238-7855. |

Wow. I'm stunned! Thoughts go out to the family at this terrible time.
Kim will be missed by all who new him. Only 52 and such an awesome engineer. His products were second to none. I have owned at least 6 of his video boxes over the years. Nothing but top quality and excellent customer service. A true loss to everyone that knew him and a loss to the A/V community. Such a nice guy too.

52?!??! So young! He was just here a few weeks ago talking about his Tesla! Does anybody have any idea what happened?
I liked Kim a lot. I was one of the beta testers for his gamma card, and exchanged a few emails with him so many years ago. Great guy.
Very sad. He'll certainly be missed. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

Ditto!
I had a Kimcoder years ago that worked like a charm. Excellent product and customer service.
It is sad and unfortunate. Based on his recent response that Crabb eluded to, I am guessing this was sudden.

Sad. The guy was 6 years younger than me. I wonder if he knew he had health problems, or if it caught him unawares?

Hi Guys,
I just found this forum. Kim hired me a decade ago and I know him since then, he was my boss and I worked with him till the day he died. He spoke about his ESL's and I always told him I would build one, I never got around to it. Now that Kim is no more, I have been looking for information regarding his ESL's so that I may build a pair as an homage to him. Kim was an awesome guy and I miss him.

You should ask his spouse if there is any way to buy or take over the building of his equipment.
It be a shame if his design ends with him.

Frankly Ryan, if nothing else it's a tribute to Kim, so I'd think his widow would be happy for you to continue the work.
