So, a few years back I became aware of a British TV show called Whitechapel. It ran from 2009-2013. I have seen this show in HD on PBS from time to time, but never with all of the episodes let alone in any proper sequence. So, a year ago I thought about buying it on Blu-ray. Sorry, not available. not here (USA) and not there (UK). Heck, all four seasons are on Amazon Prime, but in very bad SD.
So why is it that a show that ran for four years during the 2009-2013 time frame can be made available in HD for PBS but not be available in HD in any other form or delivery? Now the wife is hooked on it--just watched season one on Prime--and is also flustered. I understand it is a business decision to put something out on HD but if freaking PBS can get it why not others?
Anyone with Netflix know if this Brit show is on it and in HD?

I don't know the answer but it only had 18 episodes total over 4 years, so someone at Carnival probly decided it wasn't economically viable to do an HD-BD version.
To put in perspective, game of thrones is 10 per season and walking dead is up to 16

The number of episodes per season alone doesn't dictate that decision. I have many British series that only do three episodes per season and they are on BD. For instance, Inspector Lewis is only three episodes per season and every season of it (7?) is on BD.
Actually, we started watching season two of Whitechapel last night on Prime and it is in HD. But stuff like the original inspector Morse still isn't there yet. We loved it when Poirot was done as a complete collection a couple of years ago, but someone missed the boat on Morse. Maybe it was the cheap production (actual film not preserved), but that is one of those misfortunes.
