I am looking for this Sony CRT TV from the 80's...the Sony KV-25XBR.
Especially with this pedestal stand as seen in the photos.
Finders fees welcome if you see it somewhere as well.
I would be willing to drive out to you to pick it up.

I had two of these at one time, amazing for their time but unfortunately mine both went to ewaste with non-repairable problems. But, I do still have the original service manual set and a color brochure - shoot me a PM if you are interested. I am in Delta, BC (Canada) about 1/2 hrs drive from Curt.

I have both. I live in Sacramento, CA. I also have the all black version, which was very hard to find in its day 1986.

Hi - I have one of these and am the original owner. Still works, but the paper on the speakers rattles. They need replaced. I am in Ohio if there is some interest in purchasing it.

Side note: the DJ company I worked for bought the 25 or so 19" XBR sets that Bryan Adams used in his 'heaven' video. Gorgeous sets for sure!

What did they use all those XBRs for? I don't see any in the video...

FYI, no need to post 5 times. A single post is fine. See: http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21147
This is required because we used to have spammers sign up and then start to PM people, which, unfortunately the admins don't see until they've possibly done hundreds (and admins have no way of seeing/cleaning up other people's PMs). By forcing everyone to post publically once we're more likely to notice they're a spammer since spammers tend to be stupid bots that post stupid things. Wink

Ha! Sysop. Been ~20 years since I heard that term. (I used to be one myself on a Montreal BBS I won't mention here). Wink

Only one post was needed. I posted here and then messaged about the TV and we made plans for the pick-up.

Thank you, donw, for helping me attain this classic TV! I'll definitely give this one regular use with my Laserdisc and retro game collection. It's so cool to be able to enjoy this content on one of the highest quality period appropriate televisions. I don't know what the TVL count is but the picture is actually a bit sharper than I expected. It's sharp enough to see scanlines on a Nintendo even with composite input. I have a feeling that it could compete with a lot of late 90s sets. Next steps are to replace the speakers and build an RGB cable to get the highest quality picture.

Thanks again!

Yes, I appreciate the interest! I meant to take better pictures when I was there tonight. I used the TV for several hours and forgot to take pictures. Laughing

Here's one that I took as soon as I got it unloaded: https://imgur.com/nfkXsPS

Looking forward to hooking my HLD-X9 up to it!

I think the original stands really set off the look of the XBR series. With the pedestal base and external speakers, it has a look that distinguishes it from other consumer sets in the era of plain black or gray cabinets.

I love those SONY square speakers. I see those come up from time to time while surfing thrift.

What a fascinating design. It's clearly perfect for playing console games seated on the floor, with control buttons built for easy access right on the base.

Hi All - Its been ages (or rather years) since I posted on here....been busy with my large scale modeling hobbies and vintage cars. ANYWAYS,

I have a complete set of Service Manuals and I believe Sony Brochure for the KV-25XBR, as at one time I had two of them.
Let me know if you want me to post pics.

Make me an offer... Thanks!
...Dave

Hi All,
I was reading through this forum and I am wondering if anyone is still looking for this TV. I happen to have 2 of them, bought both in 1986. 1 black and the other grey in colour. I also happen to have 1 pedestal stand that came with one of them. I am looking into getting rid of them. I would hate to see these go to ewaste and would prefer give them to someone who will use them for gaming or other.
Let me know if one of you or someone you know may be interested.
Thank you
Denis
