We upgraded our TV recently and the only place to really locate it in our living room was above the fireplace. But, having had our old TV locked in position above the fireplace on a standard mount for the last eight years we knew the viewing angle was tiresome for lengthy movie-watching and such. A quick Google search for solutions turned up Dynamic Mounting, which specializes in mounting systems that lowers the TV from above the fireplace mantle to a low location in front of the fireplace for the perfect viewing angle – exactly what we were looking for! The mount is of the highest quality and while it definitely takes some thought to install (as you can see in the photos we had very little wiggle-room between the mantle and the ceiling, so mount placement needed to be spot-on) the end result was more than worth the time and cost. For those that might be wondering the TV is an LG OLED65B6P, and it works great on this mount. I’m sure the 55” version of this amazing TV would also work well on the Dynamic Mount.
See http://www.dynamicmounting.com/ for more information. The attached photos show views of our TV in the up and down positions, from the front and the side. We have the mount tilted forward in the up position as you can see, but be aware this can be set to a fully vertical orientation. Full disclosure – the company offers a rebate to customers for posting about their experience with their products. That said we couldn’t be happier with the mount and would be fully, 100% satisfied regardless of any rebate. Thanks!

Thanks for the full disclosure part. I've actually forwarded this post elsewhere, as it is a unique solution to exactly the problem you describe- TVs over fireplaces are far too high to watch comfortably unless you have a really long neck..
