I hope to have the Analog Nextage processor here for the meet, as the DVX is discontinued now.
I hope to see some of you here in May! |
So Tim
Why replace the DVX? Is there something it doesn't do that you need?

Just taking the wildest imaginable guess....maybe he wants to try to drum up some interest in the product and maybe hopefully possibly SELL a unit or two? It's hard to do that with discontinued product.

Always the Salesman
That DVX looks like it does a great job. If Tim puts that up for sale I will take a look. Then again I will see why he is replacing it.

Not replacing.
CM is right; the meet is to have fun and sell stuff.
Best to show current product; DVX has not been built since 2009 or so. Analog no longer repairs them.

Wow
Joel Turensky from Christie Digital was kind enough to drop by recently and show us the Spyder x20 processor; a substantial and well-engineered system intended to anchor a tv station or production studio. I won't ramble on about specs or features; just let me say it is very stable and features edge blending. Spyder x20 was developed by a Phoenix-based company called Vista Systems; acquired recently by Christie Digital, the buyers of Electrohome back in 2000.
Spyder x20 has versions with eight inputs and eight outputs, called the 0808, and a 1616 version. When you see a large scale presentation with lots of images on a sixty foot screen, the presenters are using a Spyder or something similar from Analog Way.
We hope to have Joel back in October with the Spyder x20 to present at our Home Theater Meet #2

Guys
I need suggestions for Door Prizes for the May event. Things under $75 preferably. Are BluRay discs still relevant, or should I get a few Rokus? I am assembling some lens cleaning kits so no one leaves empty handed.

One of those Spyders would be nice...you'd have a turn out like no meet before

Holy balls Tim! I had to check that spyder out on ebay, $69,000!!! As awesome as it may be, its probably overkill for anything I would need!
Still cool no less!

Guys
We had a visit this morning from Dan Benjamin at Analog Way, who brought an Ascender processor, cousin to the Nextage processor we hope to have at our May event; the Ascender has the same video chain so the same image quality, and it is spectacular. The Nextage lists for $18,500:
We hope to see Dan at our event and have him answer any questions you may have.

Good luck. I won't be heading that far west in May. Dr Dog is planning a meet at the end of May. I hope to make that one.

Guys
We are nine weeks out and I am starting to get some RSVPs in. We are determined to show a 4K source on the system; most likely a Sony 4K BluRay machine with 4K discs. That should be spectacular!

Too early to say. Bring a few if you have any.

I guess a huge screen / immersive experience isn't really what you're after since the screen's just under 9 feet wide (not overly large by today's standards) and the viewer's heads are probably 16 feet from it?
At that width I bet it's bright like you mention!

Agree the screen is kinda small, should have gone for a big one since its a blend. Reason??
