Great scenery as always with his movies. Didn't they say it was Virginia in the movie?

IMDB says it's set in Wyoming, but at least parts of it were filmed in Telluride Colorado. I happened to be up there skiing with friends when they were trying to film it. Obviously they needed a lot of snow for those scenes, and it hadn't snowed in six weeks. They were all sitting around in their trailers waiting for good weather. Fortunately for them and for me, it started to DUMP the day I got there. I got to ski in knee-deep powder, and they finally got to shoot their movie.

prequel to alien covenant looks good, although I hope there's a good story too and not just a bunch of chest-bursting and acid spewing.

Saw Arrival the other weekend, it's really good, pretty cerebral but most of you should enjoy it i would think. watching the extras really helps tie some of the premise together as well. Oddly enough my kid wound up grasping it it at the end of the movie before me LOL.

didn't see that one, pretty burned out on hitmen movies. I must have seen 2 dozen so far but the first wick did get really high marks from audiences. 85% good on the tomatometer which doesn't happen often.

Yeah, the first John wick was superb. Incredibly kinetic. Almost reminiscent of the early works of John woo. Best hit man movie since Leon.

saw Snowden last night

This is a must see , also watch the interview in the extras with the real Snowden, Oliver Stone, and the actors that played him and his GF.

It's a really eye opening and revelatory moment

so Alien Covenant, I don't think it's a "musty see" , I read the plot line and for goodness sake

Spoiler Alert

2001 a space Odyssey came out in 1968 , did no one tell the writers of this script? How many more times will the AI/Cyborg turn against the humans?

This is what my friend had to say

Quote:
is only cool the first half because its very well done expensive space movie. All the little things like sets, graphcs, wardrobe, the things the crew does and their jobs. Its all cool. But the plot sucks after they get to the planet.

Definitely. I've already pre-ordered the second one.

Another disappointment, Dunkirk Sad

possible spoiler alert (but not really)

I was really hoping for a story here, like how Nazi Germany was able to overrun Europe in a few weeks, some insight into how close the UK was to losing 350K men,
I don't feel like I got any of that , it as a disjointed mess of a story, told from the perspective of 4 or 5 guys, jumped around a lot, failed to tie it all together.

It did well at showing how chaotic war is, how even the people directly involved really have no idea what's going to happen from one minute to the next, how the most likely to survive keep going, keep improvising, never quit, etc. but over 2 hours that's just not enough to make a well-rounded story IMO

= rental

Even worse, the previews were all shite , I can't remember 1 that jumped out at me. Maybe the Death of the Jedi or whatever it's called but that will be a rental for me too.

I hope Blade Runner 2049 is good or even Dark Tower

I didn't actually say it was a bad movie, I just said it wasn't a good movie Wink . Not worth a $10. ticket IMO

On a good note, we got the utmost primo seating, Row E dead center with reclining leather sets, so I didn't feel like it was money down the drain but........

Has anyone seen anything realy worth going to theater for?

I have to say that I rarely go. I get a much better experience at home for me. The rare time I go it's because it's a movie I can't wait to see, and I know going in it's going to be sub-par picture/audio and I'm ok with that.

well maybe it's a good thing, I guess if there were too many good movies it would strain the family budget. As it stands, We only go enough to barely keep the local theater open .
Another Obvious stinker

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

Accurate review of Dunkirk in case anyone is interested

Waiting for a good sci-fi anymore gets to be like waiting for a cup of water in hell. And this film is not going to allieviate the thirst. Why? Because, instead of the alien menace menacing there is human error enabling (like the woman who falls down when the monster is chasing her)Kevin M. Williams

this is true on what passes today for " sci-fi" in general
