I just picked up one of these with a fault. When i turn it on all powers up and no picture.EHT is there so i marked the
green screen control and increased it.There is a picture there locked sync all looks ok but there is no on screen
display and i cant adjust anything with the remote. All the remote does is turns the unit on and off.
When in stand by the the fault code display is still showing 00.
Has anyone got any idears?

Did you try the mute on the remote? Otherwise, the video output board probably failed. Try reseating everything first and check that all the cables are plugged into everything. If someone previously mucked with it, you never know.

Tried all that,if the video out board was faulty i would think that i would still be able to make adjustments using
the remote even no you cant see the on screen display.eg select position and move the picture.

Did you check to make sure the tubes are turned on by pressing the R, G and B buttons on the remote. If so when you turn up the G2 and get a pic can you turn it off with the color button or pic mute?

Once i turn the screen up to get a picture i can not turn the picture off with the picture mute or green off button.
I have also tried another remote.I am thinking the system board is faulty.
Will the system board from the 9000 work in a 9100?

I have found the problem. It was capacitor 371 on the system board. Its a 47uf/16volt and had been leaking and ate through 2 copper tracks. Now to the next fault,There is a band of rubbish across the bottom of the screen. Its under
the picture so i can remove it with the blanking but wy is it there? I will keep looking.

Whoa! Good spot! Have seen many leaking, but not that bad in NEC's.....yet. Check the wave board caps as well. In fact, just replace them.

I will go over the gain and the video out board with a ESR meter and replace any that are bad but as you said i will
just change the caps on the wave board. The 9100 is going to replace my 9000.I have changed over 150 caps on the
9000 and its still not dead right. Most of the caps were all leaking and causing the copper tracks to go black.I think
i still have an affected track as the video signal gets a faint smear on peak whites.I will put the 9100 in its place
and use the 9000 as back up parts
