Sony says "don't do it". I haven't cleaned my oppo since I got it. Do you clean it on a set schedule and if so how ?

Seems to work fine. Wasn't sure about cleaning the lens. Seems like a lens cleaner could be both good and bad. Just curious how others felt about it. Now I know.

The rare CD player will start playing discs again if you take a layer of crud off the laser lens. Usually from smoking homes. Smile

As everyone has said, if it's working fine, don't do anything. Once it starts to skip, try cleaning the laser, and if not, it's a throwaway.

Never done it on any optical drive (CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, BD-ROM, CD, DVD, or Blu-ray player) in the ~30 years I've been using them.
